spend more time building your fleat and less time researching technologys so early in the game. infact, don't even bother with your capital ship until after you've capped your fleit and researched for more fleat. all you should really need early game is two civic centers and hangers, and make sure you get the planetary health upgrade on your front line planets. Look for choke points in the map too. For instance, say there's two points in the galaxy that blocks off half the galaxy, work on ge
in-game ability to change game speed so that in the end game when you're going planet to planet and doing the final assaults on an enemy who stands no chance you can speed it up

75 carriers with only 20 fighters. If you micro-manage them to all target the same at a time, you'll see even a capital ship fall in 3 passes.

Towards the tenth hour of a thirteen hour game (of straight play) I started to wish for something more.
