Give one of the support caps some kind of 'blockade' ability. That or make some 'blockade cruisers' for each race. They exist to sit there, near a phase lane, and nothing within their immediate area can jump while they still live when they are in 'deployed' mode. While deployed they can not move. They are durable but no more durable than a durable cruiser, not like a cap or a structure. They will not be as overpowered as a jump drive inhibitor that covers the whole system and always wor

and i think catering to RTS players who will be gone the next RTS title that comes out is a waste=P Spend more time making this a real time 4x game, not a slightly larger RTS. If this game is supposed to be more grandiose and 'epic' than a RTS, its going to HAVE to take longer to play a game of. Risk takes longer to play than stratego. IF you want a smaller, faster game. Then use the map creator. Make a game that has 1. 3 planets per player (which is what
lol thats pretty neat though. The game wont work with that graphics card, so the game just turns the graphics off=P Lets you still play with just the icons. Im going to try and install this game on my microwave...
I like Kronac's Cross.
I bought mine from stardock, i got an email with it, and also the receipt page they give you after the order clears also had it.
Maybe tie the cap ship and fleet cap researches togeather, so having more than one capital ship will cost you upkeep even if all you have is the two ships.
Ive never had this problem. First of all orbital guns are kind of bad. For planetary defenses i usually build 2 repairers and as many hangers as i can. Then the last couple tactical slots i put a few guns to protect my other tactical structures. Having a load of strike craft at your planet is a good defense. Remember, the game is about capturing planets, not killing the enemies fleet. If in one of the above example, main fleet warps to planet B from planet A to attack the plane
A.. super fortress world you say? I kind of like the sound of that=P Maybe they should include about 10 'anything' points that can be used for tech OR military. IT doesn't even have to be on top of the current amount, just make the start points useful for anything, and as you gain tactical or logistics points the ones in the 'anything' category naturally transfer to their respective category unless its full. That way i can have a planet with just a few more tactical things on a
I got the collectors edition thing online. Downloaded real fast. Even payed the extra bit to get a real box mailed to me=P
I played this game on the 5th because it was a space game and i like space games. I bought it on the 6th because i liked it.
I've only seen the victory screen once. In about 7ish games. The typical "do you want to continue playing" screen.
Wait.. theres a victory screen?
What? subjective? bah! Besides. Its universally accepted that the best game of all time ever is duck hunt =p Also you guys should check out dwarf fortress (its free) the next time you are bored. Its super complicated, confusing, and no matter what you do you will probably die in the end. (its a city builder strategy combat sandbox game thing wherein you construct a fortress with a few dwarves, and then try not to get yourself killed from the hundreds of active and passive cause
While i agree its a great game, saying its the best game in a decade is a pretty bold statement. In the last 10 years, the following games have come out. 1. Portal (if you dont like this game you are wrong and should feel bad) 2. Starsiege and starsiege tribes. Both where awesome games (i liked starsiege better than tribes, and to its credit the old master server is STILL up and running and people are STILL playing it online.. just.. a dozen or a score or so is all tha
Social? The internet? Im against built in voice chat. The problem with it is this; When its automatic then you have to listen to everyone, some people you don't want to listen to. The solution is simply to turn it off you say? While thats fine on paper, the fact is that when something like voice chat is available for everyone to use, it becomes expected that everyone use it. I really think 3rd party programs handling voice chatting is the best. Its the best balance. Pe
I must say that whatever this game is, i have been waiting for it a long time. I always liked RTS, but they just didn't feel right. They where too fast, as things on the scale they are depicting probably should be, and it was always about winning some small immediate thing. And 4x games, i always liked because the immersion and sense of actually 'doing something' was attractive to me. I liked building up an empire and planning things... but i would often get bored after a while
Its not a RTS, its a RT4X Saying that because its real time and has strategy that its a RTS is like saying that a fighting game is an rpg because you control a character.
I would also like this. It would add personality ^_^ I would also like to be able to change the color of my ships=p But the portrait/icon customization would probably be easier, and would be acceptable on its own.
Set up hanger bays around all your planets that connect to something that is not one of your other planets (all the open passages into your empire). Build 5+ of them, and some repair towers, and a couple gun platforms. Also cluster all your buildings up around the repair things. I find that by maxing out my planets tactical cap and building two repair things and filling up the rest with orbital hangers, (also build that emergency thing on your planets, that increase the hitpoin
Someone was asking me about this game a while back, they wanted to know more or less this same thing. I told them that if their main strategy in 4x games was to build up their empire and then kill everyone else, that this game captured it nicely. But that if diplomatic or technological victories was their thing then they where out of luck=P So no, this is not a real 4x game.. The question here though is, is it a true real time 4x? As people know, there is a great diffe
Just try starting the tutorial again, it worked for me. Theres probably some trigger that starts it and sometimes it just gets skipped or something.
I think the current AI is fine. Just add a 10% chance or so that the AI will ignore its good judgment and stay and fight due to stupidity/idealism/just tired of running
If you build a bunch of labs and then learn the tech and then destroy those labs do you still have the learned technology?
Its kind of silly that it doesnt scale back down. Imagine being in a large multiplayer game and having a bunch of enemies team up on you. Your empire gets cut down to just a few planets, but they are heavily defended and wont budge, your allies start attacking the enemies and they have to fall back. Your fleet is decimated, you only have a few planets left, but you still have to pay full upkeep, meaning that your chances of making a recovery are slim. What they should do is mak
