I use them all the time, they're a perfect defensive reaction force. Just get about 20 of them in a group and if an enemy fleet comes to take down one of your planets phase them in quickly as possible and launch your bombers to take down the capships/planet killers doesnt matter if they get eaten up just as long as they've done their job, you can always spawn more bombers from the carriers anyway. Taking down those ships leaves the rest of the enemy fleet milling around in the sytem unable to do
