With such a feature it would be impossible to balance 3 factions :/ Why? Have each new weapon simply represent the same 5% increase that current weapon increases do and you have no balance issues. Same goes for HP, Armor, shields, etc. You do get the (potential) for increased price... however, that is easily balanced by increasing the scope and scale of resource enhancing tec
But Verybad, i think i get what earlier posts where saying that would suggest your not ENTIRELY correct. If we have completely identical fleets agianst comepletely identical enemy fleets..... You: focus all ur ships to fire on enemy ship#1 till dead, then enemy ship #2, then etc... you take out...say 2 ships in 60 secs. Me: I split my fleet into 2 groups. one fires onto ship#1 and group2 fires into ship#2. Due to the mitigation thingy..my
Likewise, to the best of my knowledge, no one knows for sure how Armour works, other than the logical conclusion that more armour is better. According to Gameplay.constants file, it increases hull 5% per 1 armor point: HullPointPercentageIncreasePerArmorPoint 0.05 Yes, but it doesn't make much sense to me if t
I downloaded WinRar 3.71 from the url posted and the install program says this is a time limited trial version. Are you saying that it never actualy expires?
Yes. I downloaded winrar several months ago when I last formatted, so unless it's a loooooooong trial (which would be pointless since I can just download it again), I'd say it does not expire :D
You "dont use rar"? Why not just download winrar (it is free), and use it to extract EVERYTHING, including zip and 7z? Why do people complicate things by using different apps? The free version of WinRAR is a time-limited trial last I checked. 7Zip on the other hand is free, period.
Incorrect. Go to [link="http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm"]Rarlab[/link] and download the lat

I think I'll keep playing if they fix the AI a bit. Even with aggressive AIs it's a bit of a waiting game before they attack (I'm a bit of a turtle by nature) and like mentioned a few times they pretty much don't use anything but frigs and sometimes also a few groups of carrier cruisers. If they fix it up to be more like humans (ie. compose different and more varied fleets, actually tech up beyond T3/T4 and such) I'd find myself playing it a lot more than I already do.
While indeed a bit of a knee jerk defense, most of it isn't that far off if you think it through. In DoW, only 1 race does not use the exact economic model as the rest (Necron). The other races have barracks, mech buildings, turrets, research buildings, power plants, req "extractors" (for a lack of a better word) and so forth, so by a glance, everything is exactly the same structurally with buildings, with the same number of upgrades in thei

The fighting aspect does indeed play on the RTS part, which this game was made for. However, acting and reacting is also done in a 4X game (I assume you don't appreciate the enemy suddenly taking your city) and was not what I was getting at: What I was aiming for is that you don't have to build barracks, then warfactory, then research facility, then upgrade your HQ to level 2, then get a new building before being able to upgrade HQ to level 3 and start getting whatever endgame te

Actually, Bensam, I do believe that you are the one completely dodging the issue at hand by not only dismissing people who use quotes, even though they do not relate to the entire post or are meant to offend people (in fact, they're meant to get your attention amongst the masses), but also keep stating the same thing over and over without taking the things mentioned to heart as you mentioned others should do. There are two rather large mistakes you make: The first one is obvio
I'd say the differences between races is more apparent than in most 4X games, but on the other hand, doesn't compare to most RTS games. Which is fine, because Sins is supposed to straddle the two genres. I personally think this is the balanced position. Those arguing that Sins has as much race diversity as a standard RTS are just throwing out a knee jerk defense. Starcraft, Warcraft, Dawn of War, and even the new Ea

I find it funny that so many people are opposed to the campaign element on the basis that "zomg developers might do something else for a while", especially considering they've fixed so much in the week it's been out and that the expansion mentioned is expected a year down the line. Personally, I'd like some sort of campaign added in a future expansion, although I'm not sure the usual approach might work too well (ie. you only get to have 1 of each lab in the first mission and there are a total o
Heh, Heh, Heh.... To convince more people to play I mentioned the fact that the game was like EVE as an RTS. The advent mothership looks a bit like the Myrmidon.
Haha, the very first thing I thought when I saw that Advent ship was "OMG a Myrm!". The second thing I thought

Damn, the link didn't work right so you can't click the small screen to get a bigger one X-( It's pretty much all turrets anyway, though (the purple spots on the small pic).

What I don't understand is why people don't post screenshots of their defenses or post replays, so they can be shown where they're wrong and where they're right.. Personally, I also think that the siege frigs can (or at least could, haven't had a chance to update yet) take too much punishemnt but it's hardly impossible to defend against once you learn the strengths and weaknesses of your defenses. Here's a screenshot of an asteroid at a chokepoint from a single player game: [UR

I don't think it would be possible to implement a ship design feature in a running game, unless it's singleplayer only, where it auto-pauses the game when you enter it and let you tinker around with stuff.. It would probably be a bad idea in multiplayer, since the game would still be running in the background, as well as it might get too complex to efficiently counter a custom model of a ship, since everyone now facing your über-pimped ship of doom will have to design a specific ship to fight it

Always preferred the Esc key over F10 for the simple reason that F1-F12 are often mapped to some feature I don't want to activate by accidentally hitting the wrong key when in a hurry, whereas Esc is sitting quietly by itself in a corner far, far away from anything that could ruin your game. Probably won't disturb Sins much since it's fairly slow paced but since most RTS games are twitchy these days, it can get incredibly annoying.

It's the Daleks. Or maybe angry girlfriends/wives that keep maxing out their credit cards, since the Vasari have this big need for resources.. And lord knows that could provoke the kind of fear mentioned in the backstory.

I have played it for a bit and I find it odd that the AI even considers siege spam an option. It does it all the time and while I usually counter it in due time, I find it strange that the computer even wants to do it, given the big loss overall when they lose most of their sieges. Now, if the AI had scouted my planet and say, found one of those I can't really be bothered to defend until it's too late, I can understand sending a fleet of sieges to quickly wipe out my colony and hurt me
