I've had less difficulty clearing mines. All I'm doing is just advance the fleet towards the mines. They seem to do pretty well clearing the mines at that point. Based on how long it took the AI to clear part of one of my minefields, I'm getting about the same speed as the AI is at clearing heavily spammed mines. I do agree that clicking on the mines is beyond painful and annoying. I've given up on that and just let the autotargetting take care of shooting at t

I'm guessing that the mines are intended to stay 'phased in' when detected and 'phased out' when not detected. I have some guesses about why phase of the mines keeps cycling, but mostly I'll just wait to see if it changes in later releases. And yes, the firing from distance = hitting phased in mines is annoying.
One major problem with the suggestion: Because the Vasari mine layer does not have stay in the same system as the mines. I would just lay my mines and then run my mine layers to my planet farthest from the fighting. That way my mine field won't be cleared by losing the mine layer.
So I was clearing some mines today and noticed something that seemed wrong/buggy. I sat my seeker vessel within discovery range of a vasari mine (no problem). Then, as I mouse over one of the mines, it flickers between the phased out/invunerable state and then to a detected state, and then back to phased out, and so on. As if the game is changing it's mind every half second or so about the state of the mine. I selected a few frigates
Argh, and of course the other idea occurs after I hit post. This is forums related. It might be smart to set up a new player question/answer area in the main forums. It would make it easier for new players to ask questions and find answers without having to search through all other game related discussions.
I would request some sort of visual indicator next to a planet (on the tree or around the planet or whatever) to show the level/status of the various upgrade sets for the planet. After taking over a large amount of stars it can become difficult to remember if I've put the money into build up bomb shelters or if I've increased the number of tactical slots or whatever. I dream of 5 color bar indicators representing the 5 types of upgrades I can buy. Nothing in the bar = no upg
I'll try and toss some ideas out here. Expanding relatively quickly is usually a smart way of doing things. A single system won't be able to produce enough materials to allow you to build larger fleets in any sort of speed. Just don't over expand. Remember, if you don't upgrade the civilian (or whatever it's called) status of a planet it loses you tax income until you do. So, if you're taking over a new planet try to be able to spend on some of those upgrades soon. If you're expand
