Ship spamming is not an "exploit"! Spamming low-tech units has been in every RTS I can remember, but people have always found counters to it. Harassment and being generally aggressive early on has always been important in competitive play. People should try to find ways to tech up while withstanding the early push, not cry on the forum. Then again, people have done that on every RTS forum I can remember too.

You don't need the same fast-paced clicking that you find in a pure RTS, and the AI does a reasonably good job at deciding what to do. There is, however, plenty to do in combat. Positioning your capital ships and taking manual control of their abilites is usually a must. Next comes focus-firing, staying away from enemy tactical structures (or close to your own), positioning and using the abilites of your smaller ships and so on. You can either ignore them, as Raban suggests, or you can try to complete them. Who? The other empires ask you to complete specific tasks. Why? You can get resources as well making other empires like you more, meaning they are less likely to attack and might offer cease fires or other agreements. Having fewer enemies is always a good thing, as you don't have to fight as many empires at onces. How? You check the diplomacy screen and click on the different empires to see

We were only 3 people left, and I had a peace treaty with one of them. After we defeated the other one it was game over. I was a bit upset, as I was planning to backstab him. Regarding diplomacy in this game, I agree it is a bit lacking. I started ignoring the missions altogether after a while. Relation
