Am I the only alone in thinking that gravity wells are too small? I've seen some posts that say that the GW around planets should be increased to avoid turtling, but I don't think this is good enough. One bad thing about GalCiv was that it was an open galaxy where you could simply fly past everything and just hit someone's planet anytime. The same flaw can be said of Sins because once you are able to jump to other systems, you can simply fly to every system via one star to another. Now

I was reading another thread that had a good suggestion and I've decided to post it here if it hasn't already. I'd like to see a replace ships button in the fleet management menu. And when you right click it, it will auto replace. I find that when I have multiple fleets, it gets really troublesome to replace missing ships after a battle. I usually have a fleet that is offensive and another that is just for sieging. Before a battle, I usually have a balanced fleet, but since I don't keep an exact

The 1.02 patch now added what everything is good at fighting in the description of the unit when you go build it. There shouldn't be anymore questions about what counters what.

Not for me. It seems to only play at 1024x768 and the rest of the screeen is blacked out.

I had no trouble getting widescreen resolutions. When I first installed it the highest for me was 1440x900 even though my max res was 1680x1050. After I installed the 1.02 patch, 1680 showed up.

If you look at the customize AI option in galciv, on normal the AI is handicapped at 80% income. It's not until you go one higher that the comp equal to the player and the rest above are just cheating by a lot.

Reply to Stuttering in Technical

When I first started playing I cranked up all the effects to highest and the game would start stuttering every few seconds. I find that turning down the bump settings fixes it. My comp is old anyway so I shouldn't expect to max everything.

Whenever I change my settings in the effects menu and then click to apply, the textures on the ships disappear for a few minutes. I can still see the ships but they are just grey untextured blocks. They come back after a bit and it doesn't really affect gameplay for me since I'm usually zoomed out. I'm thinking when I change the settings, the vid card clears all the old texture memory to reload the new textures. I'm running on a radeon x1800 256mb

I was wondering if there was a way to have your fleets face a certain direction when you order them to move. I usually tell my fleet to guard the planet by moving really close to it, but that makes them end up facing the planet when an enemy attacks and every ship is forced to turn 180 in order to attack. It didn't matter too much in homeworld since ships turned pretty fast but in this game they have so much trouble turning standing still or they make the biggest U-turn.
