Tomorrow is actually iffy over all. Sunday would probably be better.

Yeah, we'll try you out. We can play tomorrow during the day (gotta finish around 5:00), or maybe tomorrow night (around 10:00), but I'm not sure about that one. If not then how 'bout Sunday?
How would you know how old anyone is anyway? edit - My brother posted on my name, just so ya know.
Hey, I may be 5 or 10 mins late, but I'm coming!
Is this thread still active?
Great, see you then. My name online is "[PX] Solon" and HaX is "[PX] HaX"
Hey, my clan Phalanx (just starting up) is gonna try to pick up the competitiveness in Sins. If it goes well we might be hosting a tournament. Of course, it won't be anything close to SC, but it might be fun.
Hey, it looks like you're trying to start up a clan right as we are, so do you wanna just join ours? We at least share the proper English requirement :P If you're interested just post in the Phalanx thread.
K, so I think we're just gonna do a 3v3 with me, HaX (the other clan leader) and you on a team, and see how that goes. Tonight around 10:00 EST would be good for us, or some time on Friday. Which is good for you?
Howdidudothat - We'd be happy to play against you guys. Just give us a while to get our shit together ;) wown - Hey, just let me know when you're available to tryout and we'll set something up.
Hello everyone, we're looking for members for a new Sins clan, Clan Phalanx. Our goal is to become the strongest competitive clan through practice, and understanding the game mechanics. We're aiming for somewhere around 10 players who will be online regularly. If you're interested, PM me or post in this thread and we can set up a time for a tryout. It's okay if you're not an expert, but you have to be willing to put the time in to improve. Once the clan get's roll
im just throwing this out here, cuz no one will believe the truth that bungie copied off of one of the most known gaming companies in the United States. because you can clearly see the what the same in both race and storyline wise Starcraft Halo Marines UNSC both are fighting for galatic peace. master chief acts like Jim Raynor Protoss Covenent both are highly religous and made up of different alien races Zerg
"When planets are colonized, they start with 3 pop-ish. I don't know about you guys, but in the very early stages I tend to lose that to the lone pirate that manages to get a seige burst off on my planet" Isn't it more efficient to kill the siege frigate before colonizing? My usual procedure early game is to target fire the siege frigate with my cap and fighter (assuming i have a colony cap), then send the cap to colonize when the siege frigate is almost dead. The fighter finishes off t
I actually think the necessity of scouting manually adds a welcome "micro" element to the game and, honestly, give you something to do during downtime. Keeping the unit AI kind of dumb actually adds strategic depth to the game by forcing players to choose where to direct their attention.
Soooooo, to ask you a case in point question: Exactly when is the best time to get econ/milit upgrades? Which ones are more important that others?
Ideally you want your first pop upgrade to finish exactly as your home world hits max population. The first two levels of pop upgrade are extremely good deals in terms of economic return. I would only skip them if one side or the other is going for an all-in rush. One thing I haven't got a great handle on is the right
I also like small maps for the reasons you listed. Unfortunately, I don't think the random small is really viable for competitive MP. It's often imbalanced by one player having an easier path to desirable planets, and sometimes you get something really ridiculous like one side bottlenecked behind the pirate system while the other has free reign over the rest of the galaxy (I've actually seen this happen several times).
Interesting stuff. I'm thinking mostly of a small 1v1 map...here winning the first bid gives you a big edge. As soon as you win, you should immediately do one of two things: attack (as Raging Amish suggests) in another system while they are distracted by the pirates; or expand aggressively (maybe this is the window you need to tech to ice planet colonization, for example). They'll have a head start on you for the second raid's bidding, but by that time you should have leveraged your adv
I'm surprised there aren't more posts about pirates...do people just play with them turned off online? On a small map, it seems like whoever wins the bid for the first raid gets a big advantage. Since when the raid is launched is random after the counter ticks all the way down (I think), and either player can bid at any time, it's basically a 50-50 who wins. Also, the loser doesn't get their money back, so in effect the winner pays about 250 credits to get a window of opportunity to expan
Thanks for the replies. I'm surprised to hear that online games are normal, since Starcraft is universally played at the fastest speed. I guess the leisurely pace is kind of Sins' trademark.
If you turn up all the speed options, do all the ratios stay intact? Or does stuff like ship speed : anti-matter regen get out of whack? Are online games fast or normal?
Can someone explain step-by-step how to download a replay and watch it? Do I to put it in a certain folder? What do I do in-game? Thanks.
I was going with quick civic labs but after reading Spiceant's post I think I may be converted. Getting the techs for volcanic and ice worlds early doesn't seem as appealing after seeing those stats. It's important to get an early cap ship factory for the same reason early alters in Warcraft 3 are good. You can start leveling your heroes (cap ships) sooner, and they are great for getting rid of creeps (pirates) early in the game. I've been getting early frigates too,
