In addition to all the stuff mentioned above, Lums can also be microed to move through an enemy fleet, and because of the sidebeams, actually kill a large amount of enemy ships while his ships are still turning to fire at the Lums. Now that's just OP.
The movement speed decrease for carriers was to stop people from "kiting" which i think is running the carriers around a grav well while the strike craft killed everything else.
There is a simple counter to that, build basic assualt frigates. If the player just keeps on spamming lrms, then he deserves to lose.

I usually role out Hoshikos a little after I get LRMs. Usually within the first half hour, I have LRMs, Carriers and Hoshikos. I haven't really experimented with Cielos too much, but if I have the time and resources, I usually get a handful, although I'm not sure what they really effect in the grand scheme of fleet battles.

Why so many scouts by that point and time? I think the Advent player had the superior fleet there, but like you said, he was outnumbered. I don't really understand why he had 20 scouts though, nor why he had so few Illums...

I'm not even gonna try to really think out the pros and cons of allowing that, but at a glance, I think the advantage given to TEC is a bit to much. Personally, I just think that Advent illums need to be toned down a bit. As for Vasari, I don't really have any problems early game with them. It's only late game that I start to get worried with Vasari.

PaulTa, I disagree with getting civ labs first. I mean, sure, it'll boost your economy fast, but if an enemy gets to you and all you have are civ labs because you didn't get a decent fleet to defend yourself with, then you're screwed. Oh, and Raging, I actually managed to fight off an Illum spam yesterday only using lrms. I was surprised myself. But I think it was mainly due to me having an extra asteroid so I could keep pumping out lrms...Everyone quit the game though, so I didn't get

That page that lists the beta ships reminds me of the Escape Velocity series... Anyway, I prefer the new Kol, but I think the old Marza looks better. I'm kinda indifferent about the Dunov design either way though, both look ugly in my opinion, The new one looks like a block, but the old is just a block with some more block attached to it.

I have to agree with Spiral, but still. Illums and Guardians with repulse more than make up for that. It looks like every race is getting some minor reductions, with TEC receiving the least changes, Advent seeing a decent amount of changes, and Vasari getting the works. To me, it seems like both Advent's and Vasari's biggest weapons are getting nerfed to a degree. Although I think that Advent is getting the worse deal here. Vasari can at least put up a decent fight without RA. But most

Well considering a few flaks could easily dismantle A LOT of squadrons, I don't think this will do much even with the new bonuses.

rafi, you obviously have not played a good Advent player using TEC recently. I'd really like to see you try to win against guardians with repulsion and the malice + cleansing brilliance combo. Sure, early game TEC is good, but it doesn't compare to the way Advent can own during the latter stages of the game. Great, TEC has an awesome economy! Awesome! Now to build a huge fleet, that just gets demolished by a handful of guardians and illuminators! That's really balanced! I honestly hope

The problem with illuminators is that if Advent can get around to building even two thirds of the lrms a TEC player has, the TEC guy will get cut to shreds. The only truly effective counter is heavy cruisers, which, even with TEC economy, are hard to get as early as illuminators, especially on smaller maps. By the time a TEC player even starts making kodiaks, an Advent player can have more than 40 illuminators which will tear apart the few kodiaks being sent to battle.

The scout rush you're referring to is probably Raging Amish's scout rush. It is actually a pretty decent strategy. It involves sending about 7 - 8 scouts to your enemies homeworld. Have the scouts destroy the constructors. While doing this, tech up to 3 military stations and unlock timed explosives for scouts. Meanwhile, you colonize and shit. Start blowing shit up in your enemies homeworld once you unlock timed explosives. You need to be TEC to do this strategy because they're the only

Not really sure of good Advent strategies...but I do know that Illuminators dominate lrms. So rush Illums I suppose if you're being lrm rushed.

TEC are kinda screwed late game, but they do have Novalith and Insurgency. Plus, they can still have a huge fleet. I'd say late game, TEC is more the support race for Advent and Vasari players. In a large FFA though, unless you're playing idiots, you're screwed late game. Advent can just walk over your fleet with the Malice and Brilliance combo. Not to mention guardians and illuminators cannot be stopped as far as I can tell. Nothing I throw at them works, especially if you have the cap

A Sova rush that early on is foolish and should be easily countered. But give TEC enough time to get LRMs, and a close by advent player may have a problem.

Kidcase: Limit yourself to one trade port per planet? Why hold yourself back? It's not like other players can't spam trade ports. It might be a bit harder for Advent and Vasari but they can still do this fairly easily.

I always build a Akkan first so I can colonize fast. On top of that, the Akkan is actually a pretty powerful ship. After that, I go for two Marza Dreadnoughts. Two of these ships with level 2 raze planet can take a 6000 hp planet down in no time...

TEC: 1 scout 1 Cap ship factory - colonizer cap ship 5 basic frigates 1 crsytal extractor 2 metal extractors Find the nearest asteroid and colonize/upgrade to level 4 infrastructure for home planet. Then from there on, it usually depends on the map. On smaller maps, I try to get a decent econonmy going, but at the same time get lrms going fast. On bigger maps, I usually spend a lot more time on economy. When I get a credit income of 25/s, I st
