The manual does not explain how you select what resources in your military and civilian resource trees??? Say for example I cick on the military tab to the left. I then have about 4 icons lit and under different catagories. Like hull metalurgy, laser upgrade and etc. Am I suppose to click on EACH ONE of those lit up icons or are those icons just telling me what research is being done in that military research tree? I click on some and a number appears sometimes, while other times no numbe
How do you defend a planet with 5+ phase lanes towards it? I've only played one or two games (both on easy) but it seems as if you get stuck on a planet like the one mentioned above as a chokepoint it is going to be hard to defend, especially early in the game. I know hangars would help, since they auto-cast fighters/bombers, but what else can you do?
I say use turrents. You can normally find out which phase lane the enemy will use by scouting. And place your turrents t
Warcraft, Starcraft, Dawn of War, Command and Conquer (both series), the list goes on ALL have a single player story mode/grand campagin. The ONLY series that doesnt, is the Total War series, and it does have missions in the game itself/its based on history, which is a story.
I’ve spend hours of my life playing through the total wars series, and I think SINS reminds me a lot of it. I think they are very identical. I really enjoy the “risk type” campaigns that a l

Nobody was replying when I put it in subcatagory "singleplayer" (so I figured nobody looks there as it doesn't automatically appear when you ener Forum), so I put it again in general - then I got lots of responses. I won't make this a habit.
Well, the names seem to describe them fairly well... a researcher would (presumably) focus on research, and economy on economy, aggression on aggression (including the siege frigate rushes... yum, XP!), and from experiance I can tell you a fortifier fortifies... and not much else.
Yeah, I thought this too. But the AI doesn't seem to change at all. I have noticed a slight difference with aggressor, but the other three play the exact way each time I play.
Just curious. I am not at home playing right now so I can’t figure it out on my own. What if you were to start a game unlocked, but choose to be on the same Team as a few of the AI players? Does this still start to game off as being 0% happiness with those factions that you start the same team with? If not, then maybe the next patch should be that if you select Team 1 with a few AI’s at the start, then those AI’s should start at 100% and already be allied.
I've been playing SINS around the clock (singleplayer) since the game came out. I've gotten pretty good against the computer and am now up to mulitple Locked AI on Hard. I haven't noticed a difference in AI playing styles of Research,Ecomony,Agression,Fotification. Can someone tell me what exactely the AI does differently with these four options? It seems that the AI does the same thing regardless of this option, "Early Siege rush, keep fleet back until time is right, fleet

I agree that turrets are meant for planets. Put them close to your planets but facing where you think the enemy will phase in from. However, hangers are your best bet. Bombers will fly straight away to fleets just “passing by”. I agree with the 45 degree angle thing. If planned properly ships can by-pass defense choke planets and infiltrate those planets in the back which probably don’t have defenses. My advice for peeps and AI that are doing this to you - Keep some of your f

I am glad my thread here has sparked much debate on pirates. I think your suggestions are great ones and would resolve my complaint of easy wins through pirates attacking AI. I wonder if the developers ever take these seriously and patch or expand accordingly.
Yeah, I know it’s about fleet combat. I’m talking really late game when the big fleet combats have happened and now you have three huge fleets and the AI has small ones going into your planets bombing. This is the time to just focus on planet bombing “unless like I mentioned” the small AI fleet has a colonizing ship fleeing into your space. My point is, that when player single player there is definitely a point where it is blatantly obvious

Solution to the ping-pong and all of the above threads. Don’t chase fleets if you don’t have to. Just wrap up killing planets. If it is approaching near end game and you’ve pretty sure you over-power your opponent, do this: If a fleet cowardly flees and backtracks, take a look at the fleet when they land in your gravity well. See if they have a “colonizing” battleship. If they don’t, who cares, let them bomb your plant to pieces. You’re about to win anyway.
My complaint is really that the singleplayer Ai, even on hard, is way to easy to win by simpling winning pirate bounty bids and have pirates and my enemies eat each other. Example, last night, on hard, just kept pirates attacking AI. When I went in wiht my fleet to start my destruction, pirates had decimated most of my opponent and I was laft with nothing but clean-up. Way too easy.
Sorry, I should have mentioned my pirate complaint is just for single player AI. Obviously Multiplayer stratigies would be different.
Firstly, this is a great game. My one complaint is pirates. Not that they bother me, but that they make winning way too easy. If I was going to write a strategy guide for SINS it will be one paragraph long. Here it is: "Watch the Pirate timer. Make sure you have funds before timer runs out. Always, always, always win the bounty bidding war and never ever have pirates attack you. You will win the AI on any difficultly setting, all the time". I know that since I’ve disc
