Shield mitigation works even when shields are down. Phase missiles upgrades give phase missiles more chances to bypass shield, but when they do so, they also bypass shield mitigation. So when a ship has reached 50% shield mitigation a missile that phases will do double damage. Dark Fleet is not so impossible to pull in 1vs1. But you cant just rush to it and hope it will save you. For those who dont know how mitigation works. Mitigation is a percentage of damage that is reduced from the attack. For example: 20 mitigation means that an attack that does 100 damage will do 100-20%=80 damage. The base mitigation level of each ship is 15, it is never lower then this (except with some special abilitis). Mitigation increeses every time someone shoots at a ship, but it decreases over time. Phase missiles make focus fire worth it. A ship allready has a base shield mitigation of 15% and just 2 ships fireing at it will easily increase it to 25-30%. So it doesent take a huge amount of ships to get mitigation to high levels. So unless u can make sure that no enemy ship is targeted by more then 1-2 of your units then focus fire is not such a bad ideea when you have phase missiles. The thing about phase missiles is that they can bypass mitigation. Thats what their strenght is. Lets say you have a ship that does 100 damage a shot and you have a sheild phase chance of 25% and are attacking a ship wich due to other attacks on it has got shield mitigation at 50%. Your ship will have 3 out of every 4 attacks hit the shield and do 50 damage (100 -50% mitigation) and have 1 out of every 4 attacks do 100 damage. This means that it will do 250 damage in 4

1) How does Pervasive Economy work? Do i get credits whenever another player buys a ship/building/upgrade? Or dose it work only on sales done on the black market? How about the trade part? 2) Does Insurgency mean than random fleets are created and constantly attack the enemy, or this only happens on enemy planets affected by my culture?

Actualy anti fighter ships can be very good against missile frigates.

I did some tests and it seams that the phase torpedo does ignore mitigation, but it also increases it like a normal attack. But the tests were not perfect so i am not sure if i am right.

The problem is that if you still want to use assailants or the vasari flak frigates against targets with low shield to HP ratio (mostly TEC) you have to tech up a lot and also get all the phase penetration upgrades to get to the damage upgrades, as opposed to all the other ships witch can have there damage upgrades as soon as the ship is available. Well turtleing is not realy an option because LRMs can outrange defences.

I seem to have problems countering early TEC LRM attacks. This doesent happen late game. But in the begining they seem very hard to counter as vasari. TEC gets LRM after only 2 military research centers. At that point vasary have only the Skirmisher and the Assailant available, and bouth seem weak against LRMs. I took a look at the stats of the units and (if i read them corectly) i think i know why the LRMs are so powerfull.
