was fixed with 1.05. I know this is a forum for technical PROBLEMS, but, since i posted something like a dozen bitchy forum posts about how it didnt work, i figured the least i could do is make one happy one now that it does. so, thank you Ironclad and Stardock, i have just finished my first non-crashing, non-desynching multiplayer game of sins (i lost), but i am extremely happy the game is working and hope to play and enjoy a few games, whenever i have 3 hours to spare :) if you w
Our stats suggest that hosting is the main problem - at times there are more than sufficient people online there just aren't many games to join.
The other problem is that when you do host and get a game going, it desyncs and crashes in the first 10 minutes, for some reason there are some people who *can* play the game but its definitely not 99.99% of users as was suggested by Stardock. I'd guess its probably more like half of users. Remember, most people aren't technical
Even if there were an issue with your computer, and not the game, how many people would admit that? Likely they'd say it was a game issue, particularly when they haven't updated their drivers in over a year.
Its not that the game doesn't run, it does work in singleplayer perfectly on my system, although i havent played a singleplayer game since 1.03. It crashes during every multiplayer game, about 10-15 minutes in. That could feasibly still be caused by my compu

I hate to sound like a broken record, but I like how 4 stardocks reply on this thread, and none of them every reply to the desynch bug which prevents 50% of us from playing this game multiplayer, and although this isnt my issue, because I can't play the game, I haven't seen too much discussion on improving game balancing either (I really dont like the sound of "ship spamming without expanding to another planet" as being a viable strat AT ALL, but again, how the f*^% would I know. I CANT FINISH 1
But, possibly, are the people here who get minidumps (constantly like me not just random ones) have the Direct Download Version also?
I have the box version. 10 minutes, eh? sounds like autosave. id tell you to disable autosave, but i already did that and it still happens. However, my opponents still had autosave on most likely, so its plausible thats the reason. See if you and your opponents disable autosave (instructions to do that are somewhere on the forum, you have t

if you or the people who join your game get minidumps during multiplayer ONLY (not in singleplayer) and they happen about when you first see the other player's ships out of the fog of war, dont bother reinstalling, installing XP, nVIDIA drivers, bloom, changing computers, or any of the other ridiculous fixes they suggest. Just play another game until they decide to fix this problem, (which is a game logic desynchronization, by their own admission to me in email), and hopefully it will still have

Still getting minidumps. same exact behavior as before. I'll come back to this game in a month to see if its been fixed. if there is still any community at all, since this issue is incredibly widespread. thats why even though the game has sold 100,000 copies, theres like 5 people in the lobby. i would send them in but since ive been hosting, i dont get the minidump (the other people do) ive already spent way too much time trying to report this problem, and my paycheck doesn't say Ironcl

... but we're not resting on our laurels.
I certainly hope not. I have still not heard any news of any fix to the minidump/network desynch bugs that are plaguing me and everyone i know who owns this game. I have sent my dumps and game logs and much more to support, and I have not heard anything back, so i hope the problem has been found and is being addressed. thanks, sins is a great game, i just want to play it :D

Hey dudes, just thought you should know, this is being worked on by the devs. Its a desynch and not a driver issue although since anything can cause desynch, it could be a driver issue, but thats unlikely. basically, something is breaking determinism between the various clients of the game, for me it happens right off the bat as soon as any combat occurs (first 15 minutes usually). glad actually this bug still exists, or else id be doing nothing with my free time but play Sins :)

game runs fine in Vista or XP, However there are network desynchronizations (minidumps) i believe when you play against XP players. and vice versa. im going to test this hypothesis today.

well, yeah, im really looking for people who have the problem to say they are having it too so the developers look into it. worth mentioning: it works fine in single player, so i dont think its vista or my video card or it would have problems in singleplayer as well. a router problem shouldn't cause a hard crash, it should at worst just cause disconnection. having developed RTSes before, this smells like it is some kind of desynchronization thats occuring that for what

hey guys. love this game, utterly fabulous. have not had all night long game sessions with a pc game like this for almost 10 years. anyway, I have tried maybe 10 times to get a multiplayer game going. i have both hosted and joined games, both on ICO and on direct IP connection. The same thing always happens. About 15 minutes or so in, the longest being 30 minutes and the shortest being 5, someone drops from the game due to a "MiniDump". I get it whenever I use ICO and my partner gets it
