I've been trying 4-5 hangars with 2 repairs and sometimes 1 or 2 special defensive structures and the only thing you can ever count on is them taking out small pirate or rebel attacks. Anything beyond that easily overwhelms them after a couple minutes with the planet getting nuked by siege ships. Other than fortifying your planet to take as much of a beating as possible, the only good defense really seems to have a solid mobile fleet within 2 jumps to take out fleets bent on attacking y
No, there won't be teamspeak for this one. Not everyone's set up for it, and besides I'll just end up annoying other people in the house if I'm speaking to the computer for hours on end. I made a random 2 star map that supports 4v4 team play. I can make one for 5v5 team play quickly enough. I went with 2 stars because I don't like the idea of playing a crowded 1 star map and Mage indicated he'd rather not go with the 3 star map because it can isolate team members.<br/
Once again, i'd love to join this match-up. If you do decide to use teamspeak, vent, or anything of the sort, i won't be able to; I'm not going to have any kind of microphone for another two weeks. ALso, an 8 Pm start sounds fantastic.
Even if you don't have a mic, it's often worthwhile to download the client apps and run them as a central 'meeting' area to see other players. You can also just use it to listen to your te
Bah, he rated both Crysis and World in Conflict as 9.5's. World in Conflict was, and is, fantastic. You can't really expect less in an RTT from the makers of Ground Control. I don't know about Crysis though - haven't played it
World in Conflict was
Clearly everyone wants moving ships in combat, with line formations and broadsides and so forth. Movement in fact makes huge amounts of sense in space combat, even with lasers, since relative velocities can be immense and the ships can engage light seconds apart (or even much further, if we consider missiles and railguns etc) Whether the game engine can do it, and still work on peoples systems, and still function as a combat system is another question.

I'm not a fan of Game$pot either, but a 9.0 means a higher average for metacritic, which is at 8.7/10 for SoaSE right now. Kudo's to Ironclad and Stardock, they might break 9.0 after a few more 9's get counted. I do think 9.0 is fair, I think with better 3d modeling on the ships, and more of a directed campaign mode it could've gone higher.

Sign me up as a friend for any possible 8:30/9pm CST (Chicago) daily noob games with the same setup as what CyberMage described. I'm still only on my 5th offline game or so since getting the game on Monday. I can play pretty late, up to about 3 hours. I've already had the same experience on ICO with a 2vs2 where the "noobs" were immediately spamming full frig swarms, tossing 2000-10,000 credits to win every pirate bid, all the while my teammate nabbed every planet ahead of me as I was c
none of the LRM's have capital armour in 1.02, is this is based on 1.03 or typo?
It was a typo on my part as they have light armor, I just got overzealous with the copy/paste. :SURPRISED: Fixed.
Awesome chart. Advent LRM Frigates have light armor, though (although they do Capital damage).
Fixed! Must have slipped in when I was copying/pasting the fields. BTW Thanks for taking the initiative to pull out all that ship data and post it for us too Zen. Medium armor/dmg is back to green too.
Nice work SeiraBlack!! Also check out my latest dev blog for a basic counter diagram.
Awesome about the counter diagram, yeah I was going to go back and try to find a nice diagram from some other RTS's on my shelf to come up with a way to better show counters, but Sins is pretty uniq
Very nice work. great job. If you update it I suggest putting the official URL on it as well as the logos for SD/IC just for that extra bling and artistic flare.
Thanks. I made a "pretty" version based on your feedback, but kept a link to the old one without all the graphics so it's easy to print.

Credit goes to ZenLunatic for [link="https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/?forumid=404&aid=177335#1463913"]digging up the data[/link] and the original formatting, I just wanted to put together a "at a glance" chart with some color coding that I could print out for reference. I might clean it up or do a nicer version later as a PDF but figured the community might like it as-is. Updated "pretty" version based upon feedback: [img]http://www.crimsonsky.com/images/Sins-Ship-Damage-
