It really depends whether you play Sins as an RTS player that likes the 4X additions or as a 4X player that likes the more dynamic strategy. Online players are generally the former and single player advocates the latter (i'd put myself in that camp, I'd love more detail to just sit and expand my empire.) It's a hard bridge to cross and perhaps GalCiv II and in the future III (with some borrowed combat systems from Sins, perhaps?) are better bets for those that want large expansive and d

Good ideas, innociv. I think a lot of the defense/shield/population techs could become infinitely more useful if siege/bombardment was improved. At the moment it doesn't matter if a few sieges slip around to one of your undefended planets. You can easily get back to destroy them before they do noticeable damage, so all the mitigation tech isn't really needed, you can buy a moveable defense fleet to defend them instead. If sieges are buffed and nerfed so their survivability is nonexiste
This is a good point. Maybe a resource trading system between individual players (a la Settlers of Catan) would add something to the diplomacy system in 1.1?
