As of now Cap ships are just about at the perfect balance point in EARLY GAME. About mid game they really lose steam and in LATE GAME they become a micro headache just to keep them alive. Not to mention they don't "scare" anyone at that point. I'd like to see where someone say's "oh crap he just jumped his lvl 10 cap ship in system." It should have an effect on the battle, but not obliterate everything. The only thing that needs to change with them is to make them scale better when leve
Thanks for all you do.To the post, I agree. I wish cap ships damage/survivability would scale up a little better once the battles get huge. Too many times do my cap ships enter a battle along side my fleet of 50-70 frigates and cruisers against an enemy of equal strength to have us destroy each other's cap ships within the first 20 seconds unless we IMMEDIATELY retreat them. I too like the multiple front thing and most of the time cannot afford to have a cap ship in the fight, and I like
Thanks for responding in many of these threads. Not many game developers/publishers take the time to do so, and those that do, often stop doing it after they get all the crap from people. It can be frustrating and burn you out because you will never please everyone. It should in some ways though show how much of a success the game is because people care so much about those changes. Well, so this doesn't become a completely useless thread, like you said in another thread, I'll give a
I agree. I think down the line it's goign to need to be added. It's all likely just a matter of time.
Thanks for responding again, I just hope that "down the line" doesn't come too late...
that still isn't a reasonable sentiment... capital ship has more overall surviveability AND special abilities. that means it should be WEAKER then a fleet of ships costing equal amounts of resources. Not more powerful.Capital ships cost 3000 credits plus research costs for the extra crew slots. You're looking at well over 4000 credits per additional capship. You shouldn't spend resources on a unit like that unless you can reasonably assume it will kill 4000+ credits worth of enemies. Now,
Thanks for responding. No one has said though that all games should be ranked. Theres plenty of games that I'll play with friends which I DON'T want to be ranked. IE practice, just for fun ect. We just want both options to be in the game. It's very frustrating rolling the dice when you get in game as to who you're actually going to get. Just as has been mentioned, you're going to drive both sets of people away if it continues how it is. Nothing drives a competetive player more bonkers t
yeah I have to agree that what Frogboy says in that quote is very dubious. I understand where he is coming from, I think. It can be very frustrating for new players if the "competitive" ones take over the culture. On the other hand there are many (if not most) players who obviously aren't interested in noncompetitive play. Good players won't want you on their team if you don't have a good win-loss record, and it's a pain to achieve that status when people just leave.I don't see why you can
https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/?forumid=406&aid=300864wanna read something that shocked me Irconclad Online doesn't include a ranking system. That wasn't by accident. It wasn't an oversight. It was precisely to discourage "playing to win at all costs" style of playing. If other people want to set up their own tournaments, that's fine. But I don't want the typical ICO game to consist of one player trying to play a fun game versus someone who has figured out that the best strateg
Seriously... Ran into a game tonight 4v4 ffa random. This guy Kalibah and Brm both message me with peace treaties. After they hit me at the same time and then brag about working together it's quite obvious they join ffa's to sucker people. Anyway that's the risk you run playin ffa's, not complaining about that. What rips me is that I actually fought back and quickly allied with the other player, and we actually managed to beat down Kalibah. Brm was still very strong though. But after
I believe a Kohan vet clan is in order!
Hear hear!
wow old kohan players in here! I was ender[dz] hola!
Yo Ender. How are you liking this game?
Ahh, I wondered. Play under the name of Orional.
Did you ever by chance play Kohan?
Good post. Feel the same way. Especially about Cap ships. Such a cool feature to level them up, but most of the fun is ripped out of it because they simply are more of a micro liability by late game.
This is the problem with Cap ships in late game. When leveling their damage output and damage absorbtion really need to scale better.
I'd like to join a regular gaming group or play with any of the clans out there. I have plenty of rts experience, like a balanced competetive game and am not a sore loser =P. Let me know.
Ok I love the game, love multiplayer. Need some bugs ironed out, which have been talked about plenty, and some small balance tweaks. But Cap ships really need some help. I love the idea of having big ships giving your fleet's some serious menace. Cap ships are actually very balanced. That is, they are very balanced in the early game. Late game, in any kind of map over small, they simply are a waste of resources (outside of a few special abilities). You put this awesome feature in the
These guys are the easiest to beat. They don't protect their bases. Usually it's regular frig spam, they move on your homeworld and bam you're done. This is why you have defenses. Expand only to what you can hold. Research LRM frig's and keep changing. Game today. I got met with someone who knew the map better than I. He had the ice planet and two asteroids. I just had two asteroids. He should have beat me, his military was better and his economy was better. I met his frig spam with LR
Fighter bases make sense with carrier defense groups. Nothing like a mob of fighters pounding someones leveled up cap ship to scare them off... Not saying that turrets aren't a great option either. Just don't count them out.
