I guess it's just a matter of preference. I usually run 2-3 fleets, each headed by a cap ship... they are all around level 5 by the time I have the money to buy cap levels, and at that point I churn out the big ships and level them up (sure, 1 Kol can get taken out by 8 or 9 Kodiaks, but 8 or 9 level 4-6 Kols beat the living crap out of those 8 or 9 Kodiaks :P)

:P I'd rather blow stuff up and look like crap than get blown up while looking stunning. To be serious: I don't have a problem with pretty ships. I don't have a problem with ugly ships. I don't even have a problem with big windows (:P). I do have a problem with this 'naval' ideal, however. Space != water. There are very different considerations and hazards that come into play when designing space-worthy ships. Frankly, if you want to do a redesign, I'd say get rid of the naval
@ Hunting- do you have friends that own the game? No, nevermind, hold on. More applicable example. I have a friend who owns Civ IV, as do I. If you've ever played Civ IV you know that any decent sized game lasts >18 hours. Obviously not a one sitting sort of thing. And yet there are hundreds playing online at any given time. The 'mp save' feature was included so that you could play these massive, day-spanning battles with your friends. So what if you don't finish in one sitting
I might be alone here, but my favorite ship in the whole fleet is the Kodiak. 'Aesthetics?' Eh? We're fighting in space! Do you think modern airplanes and tanks and ships are made to be aesthetically pleasing? (No.) They're meant to have purpose. Form follows function, right?
I'm with you on that, transitive. HuntingX is being a bit of a dick. OT: I'm with the 'don't scuttle it unless I'm moving it' crowd. I do end up getting a second cap within the first 10-15 mins (usually a Kol-Akkan combo), and the scuttle just seems to be unnecessary. Yeah, so I gain x-many credits, but one of my constructor ships is distracted rebuilding the CS yard when it needs to be building something else (tech ups usually mean I'm building other, more important things by this poin
