Thanks. Will scuttling ships accomplish the same goal as losing ships in combat to reduce the bounty?

I've read the manual, but for the life of me, I can't figure out how to pay off a bounty that is on my head. I know that the computer can pay off their bounty and get it back down to 0, but how do you pay off your own bounty?

Ah, I see. Why select the Devastator over the Desolator? I'm still new, but it seems like the Desolator would have a big advantage because of phase missile swarm, especially once the phase missile upgrades are researched. Thanks for taking the time to share your strats.

I'm surprised the Desolator isn't mentioned. Is the phase missile swarm ability not as great as I thought for fleet battles?

I just started playing this game, and I have a few questions if someone would be nice enough to help me out a bit. 1) How exactly do orbital refineries work? Are they very different between races? I've only played with Vasari, and the info card says something about it conferring a resource bonus from trade ships, but I never see that great of a bonus.
