Vinraith, Funny, as a person that prefers RTS over 4x, my comments are exactly opposite. Way too complex a tech tree, why do we need to deal with Crystal, Metal & Credits? Way to slow (leaving to alot of tired days) to get finished etc. On the RTS side, the graphics are good, but not great. No real use of the 3rd dimension, etc. Bottom line, as they it's a compromise and I'm happy and enjoy it. Is it Homeworld 3? No, I wish it was, but it's the next best

If you are going to do a demo of this game, with its complexity, if you don't want to turn off first time buyers, you need more than the crummy 4 tutorials. you need at least a short campaign. Any software given away as a demo that is complex, ends up with negative feelings without some way to train the users, whether its a game or business software

All Good points. I have been a Medium Core PC Gamer for ages (since the Apple II) also have a Mame Arcade and a Wii. 1) Consoles are actually easier to pirate than PC's. A $35/chip in the wii, and I can download burn and run any game I ever wanted. Odd thing though, although I have boat load of games, the vast majority of these Wii games suck and I only found them out by trying a pirated copy. I went out and bought (in some cases had to due to a peripheral like guitar hero

I respect and understand your points and thanks for clearing alot of key things up. I know to some extent I'm playing the "wrong" game although it is becoming fun, it's just that I have 4 kids and own my own business so the idea of each game being hours upon hours just isn't realistic. The problem is nobody seems to be making the "right" game for me, i.e. a homeworld sequal. That thing is tied up in legal no mans land and nobody else seems to think there is a market. instead,

I'll admit, I'm an RTS fan, specifically a Homeworld fan and am bit of a newbie (maybe 10 hours under my belt) But why Crystal and Metal? They don't seem to add anything other than you have to constantly do a buy/sell minigame to get what you need. Personally I'd prefer money only, but if it needs more, than say Crystal Only. Next, Why do I have to build a crystal and metal harvestor? I've got 100 things going on at the same time to remember to

Basically what you are describing is Homeworld. I keep forgetting how great those games were. The problem in sins is a "frigate" is really more like a corvette (in homeworld speak). The cruisers that sound "bigger" don't seem any really different than frigates. The cruiser class should have bigger, stronger more expensive ships (I miss the ol' ION beam frigate) which would give it the ION beam of a Capital ship, but with out all the fire support so it would have to be used with sup

Thanks. One of the frustrating things is you'll try and build something and it is gray. It will say necessary research not done, but there should be a newbie mode where you can hit a hotkey and it tells you what specifically you are missing. How can you see what the cpu is researching in the replay (i've yet to use the replay feature)

Maybe I'm just stupid, but after reading the whole manual and doing the 4 tutorials I still can't get anywhere after about 10 hours on the game in small maps against standard computer AI. There are just so many variables. Many you don't know what you have to do to address as the popups tells you, you need to research something, but there is no hotlink to what exactly that research is called and where it is on the chart. Does anybody know of a true newbie gameguide or at least an ho
