Impressive work! What did you use to create these (apart from PS)? I've also made a short attempt to customize the planets but with the textures you can apply to your brushes in PS it's hard to create believable planet surfaces. So where did you get your textures from (provided that you didn't create them yourself earlier) because doing something as detailed as your planets would rather be a matter of days than minutes.
The funny thing is, the game plays stereo in mono
I guess that's because it's easier to write algorithms that are able to pan 1-channel-signals (mono) about in the surround field than stereo signals. The latter would require more complicated stereo width adjustments which aren't provided by the Sins-engine. Apart from that it's more realistic if an explosion appears to be coming from a specific spot on the battlefield instead of sounding ultra-wide and its location being i
I'm using a Phase26 Terratec Producer Sound Interface. Not exactly what you should use for gaming but I'm having the same issues with it. I believe that the fact that the engine can't handle stereo samples causes crazily increased volumes (left channel + right channel = twice the amplitude) what causes clipping (/popping) effects if it goes beyond the max level.
Now i got the same encoder, that the developers used, but with that i can convert effects one by one... so this takes a little time.
Unless it's a secret - what's the encoder called? Is it a common anything-to-ogg-converter or has it special options for surround-placement? Maybe you should try MediaCoder first because it supports batch conversion. And I've just compared the Distant Stars sounds with the original ones. I'm pretty sure converting your sounds to mon
The textures compressed in Zip, just with a self-extractor.
I've noticed that, but one usually looks out for a file with a .zip ending if it says so in the readme. After having played 2h against 9 AIs I can say the following: Since I'm a fan of fighters this MOD is like heaven to me. I love that I can build 8+ hangar defenses with 6 squadrons each. That's why I also like the modifications at the capital carrier ships. That thing alone can wipe out whole enemy
Colt556 - Maybe a wise decision to read the README. The problem is the lack of the textures. You created a Texture folder in the Mod, right? Now you have 2 options:First, Grab those textures and place them to the game folder, NOT in the mod. After delete that textures folder from the.Second, Place the game all textures from the games dir, to that Textures folder that you created in the mod. But this takes about 1.14 GB.
I had exactly the same problem despite doing what (I
Hmm, I'd love to add some tunes to the existing music but also keep it situation-dependent so Winamp won't help. I suppose it wouldn't be of any use to just put some fresh music into the sound folder and rename it to e.g. "quiet16.ogg", "quiet17.ogg" (an existing title + a number higher that those of the existing tracks), or would it? Nah, that's childish.
The music files are saved that way... peace music = silent, combat music = loud. The game just plays it without adjusting the volume. You'd have to it yourself by going to the "sound" folder, opening the files that contain music with a program that is capable of normalizing audio and save it as .ogg again. Unfortunately this will take you a long time if you do it one by one. The only program (to my knowledge) with a batch-normalization feature is Adobe Audition. Audacity might have something lik
I've already posted this elsewhere in the forum, but: Has anyone played the classic LucasArts-adventure Indiana Jones 4? I think some of the Advent-Tracks sound a lot (maybe too much) like the Indy4 score by Michael Land. But apart from that I like the Sins music a lot, it catches the mood perfectly. But it wouldn't have harmed if Mr. Schuegraf had composed 20 more tracks because at the end of my first Soase session (8h :P) it became a bit repetitive.
I'm afraid I can't help you with the titles. >>> Was the music all made on a synthesizer, or what symphony orchestra was used? From what I've heard I suppose they've used orchestral samples as in most game soundtracks. Only the biggest game companies can afford to record from real orchestras. Does anyone else think that the Sins Score sounds similar to Indiana Jones 4?
