*coughs* We already have battlecruisers. The Akkon and Dunov are the TEC's, for example. Of course, I, personally, don't really like the way Sins did capital ships, but beggars can't be choosers. Maxiwell: battlecruisers are also heavier than heavy cruisers. >.>

Based on correlations on the scouts at the Naeve star, at least two of the three transfers were additional Exile scout frigates. This brings their total number to approximately twenty three." Josef: First things I thought of. When the TEC finds out the 'real' names of the ships, they'll start using them, but until then, they have to keep them straight somehow. Also, I should totally have a Halcyon carrier named Sovereign. Go, go Mass Effect shout-outs! WitchFire says: Go out and vote today, or the TEC gets to carry the idiot ball for another update.

Saints of a Solar Empire Chapter 2, Part 8: The Calm Before the Storm The nondescript man toiled away in an office that most systems in known space would find either decadent or eclectic, and all would find it odd. *cough* I think I'll just say that I've had Book 2 (and most of the rest of the series) planned long ago, so any genocidal massacres that may or may not appear are entirely coincidental. *cough* Not that you should expect something like that. I'm a wholesome girl who loves kittens and bunnies and happy endings. I'd never kill off sympathetic characters because I feed on misery. Who am I, Joss Whedon?
Josef: Say that after I introduce the new ship types. Oh, am I getting a little too ahead of myself?
HeroicHerald: The Advent are far from invincible. However, they have many, many advantages which will be explained in more detail in the next update. As for the TEC, yes, they've been fighting the Vasari for ten years, but you have to remember that the Trade Order was at peace for a thousand years and hadn't built a dedicated warship in over eight hundred years. The Vasari scout ships were enough to take away whole worlds from the Trade Order when they first arrive

Because of its proximity to the Northern Kingdoms and near the edge of the Order space,
In theory, a starbase should be more powerful than their cost in cap ships, because they can take the space a capship does to engines and use it for more weapons, armor, and shields. Plus they're, you know, bigger. On the flip side, unless the starbases can do horrendous DPS, what's to stop your attack fleet form simply flying to the other side of the planet--or if the starbase if guarding the planet itself, what's to keep you from picking at the enemy system with
Thank you for all the support, and, yes, I will be putting up a new story later today or tomorrow, and I should be finishing the book up in three or so updates, at which point I'll take a break from the Advent Front to explore more fertile pastures--which will feature Vasari, weeee. Oh, and sorry for the delay. Compy exploded and then I had to move. Yippee. Cataclysm: Yeah, I've been using the manual instead of in-game data. Woops. <
Fighters are useless in Space, not enough fuel for them and weak armament.
It depends on the setting, and if 'fighters' would even be using a consumable fuel such as fossil fuels or plasma. As for the weak armament, I suppose. Unless we're talking nuclear-type weapons (which, obviously, aren't as powerful in space thanks to lack of atmosphere, and such) or, if you want to get fancy, anti-matter weaponry. Weak armament is a matter of perspective. Artillery that could f

noobsauce94: The Advent don't hold more or less of a grudge than most of the human race. Given present day parallels, there have been animosity (mostly between religious sects but sometimes cultural) that have lasted thousands of years. People killing other people for deeds done generations ago (if they were ever done at all) is not anything new. The Trade Order didn't help the Advent, either. They found their planet, designated them debased and craven, and evicted them by f

Some realism has to be sacrificed in order to maintain gameplayer. Sure, point defense would be awesome when you're fighting missile heavy enemies, like LRM spam or the Vasari, but then what would be the point for them against the Advent, who only use energy weapons and beams which can't be stopped by PD? It would give the Advent an unfair advantage (however slight). As for hulks, I like that idea, but it'd only work for the larger ships (I imagine frigates blow up quite easil

Perhaps, but you cannot win wars on simple guerilla attacks. Eventually, you'd have to hit a hard target, and the Visari would be at a complete disadvantage in those situations without a tank vessel to absorb damage and dish it out in return. Also, the Kortul formed the backbone in every Wing of the Dark Fleet. Lastly, offensively, the Vasari may prefer fast strikes, but they're not always on the offensive. What happens when their small force of fast, quick ships are absolute
