Wow, been a long time. Odds are that I am not going to be completing this story or even adding to it--though I may if the entire series--the original, Entrenchment, Diplomacy, and Rebellion--ever goes on sale on Steam or something. So I figured I would share my notes with you folks, so you're not left to wonder. The next book I had planned would focus on the hinted at Northern Kingdoms--bastardized from the largest 'kingdom' name
She has so many WH40k references in her story. I wonder if she's any good at it and what race she plays. Judging by her Advent descriptions, I bet she plays Eldar. Warhammer 40,000. Kick ass game, look it up if you don't know it. /hijack Hopefully she'll write some more, she's good. -Itharus
I play Tyranids, Sisters of Battle, Chaos Daemons, and, yes, Eldar (and Dark Eldar on vassal
awesome. although i disagree that the novalith is useless. it is a strategic weapon, not a tactical one. obviously, it wouldnt help much in a battle. but by shooting infrastructure, it can help with the next one, and the one after that
It has a range of a Cluster, in theory, but its targetting system is too unstable to be used on anything smaller than a planet, and even then, it has to be within the system of the N

Book 3, Chapter 1: Silver Linings "...and this is the center of our project, Admiral." Kol looked at the monitor of the shuttle. It had been a week since he had stumbled across the Project Novalith station, and he was now getting a personal tour by Doctor Weir. Staring into the monitor showing the exterior of the primary facility, he couldn't help but marvel at the way security had been maintained. Several construction yards, an asteroid base, the main facility,

Unfortunately, I've recently suffered a wrist injury, so won't be writing much in the way of the story for a while. Honestly, the interest seemed to have died down, so I was just gonna let it die, but it seems I was mistaken. Book 3 will take the focus off the war front. We'll be introduced to the Vasari, the Notharrin Kingdoms (and their rebellion), and we'll find out what happens to Advent prisoners of war. Several MIA characters will make comebacks. Oh, and

Admiral Kol sat behind his desk aboard his flagship, Gibraltor . It was a third generation ship--designed from the keel up as a true combat vessal, and not some slapped together affair the original designs were, and that Kol himself had faught with. Though not designed to carry a fleet's flag, Captain Diego had done quite well in helping Kol adjust to the new setting. The command team Admiral Eltsina had hand-picked for Kol's staff was also top-notch. The admiral was finding t

One could consider a buff for strikecraft too--onboard ordanance, such as missiles or disposable beam packs. Code it in such a way as the strikecraft to have massive DPS in the first pass then drop down to 'normal' levels afterwards. Once the squadron redocks, the ammunition (or equivalent) is replaced. Heck, in order to add to the realism, this could also be the only way for additional strikecraft to join a squadron, as well.

The ships are probably not scaled correctly when compared to planets and moons, but they should be scaled properly against each other. Apart from the Vasari, space stations would not have an extensive engineering crew, as they probably lack everything except stabilizer drives. Of course, that means they can use that space a starship would devote to drives with weapons and armor, which require crews. Starbases probably also have a large compliment of Marines (and equivalent

Here's another short one, but it's self-contained, and I figured it'd help fight off the withdraw. The next update will, in all likelihood, be the end of this book. And I mean it this time. --- Altima, War Mistress of the Third Sword, felt the predatory surge of her crew as her forces stalked their target. Even though Third Fleet--her fleet--had been viciously wounded at the First Battle of Naeve, she still had adequate forces availabl

A lone man stood impassively among the ruined landscape. Winter had settled on the planet Naeve, and it would be one of the longest, coldest cold seasons in history on the green and blue gem. Most of the main continent had been covered in overcast for the past four months, and darkness began to creep into the souls of the denizens of the ravaged planet. Some were affected more than others. Alexander Kol stared at the two unremarkable grave markers. One of the graves was empty.

Well, since some of you are having doubts of whether or not I'll continue this story, I've decided to split the finale into (at least) two parts. I'm going to go ahead and post the first half, which actually ended on a rather interesting note conveniently enough. Roomie also got a new iMac laptop, and I hate her for it. On a plus side, there may be enough time between her getting rid of it that I might be able to squeeze in enough time to finish the second book. I'

Having severe computer problems. In fact, it brokeded, so now I are computerless. Going to try to (re)type the finale on roomie's crappy laptop then work forever until I can afford a new one. Bleh. Oh, I also got laid off. Know how many hours I'd have to work at McDonald's for a new computer? A LOT.
Could we please have a hint at the characters left behind enemy lines? Are we going to have anymore groundside stories? Also exactly how many ships on each side of the battle now? Kinda lost track back there...
No. Yes. A lot.

Anyway, the primary question you should be asking yourself is what does this unit add to the game, and is there a unit that already fulfills the purpose? For example, large carriers. Having a carrier is 10+ squadrons would be too powerful. Unless cruisers and capital ships starte

It's clearly not another dimension since Han says that one of the dangers of flying through hyperspace is that you could fly right through a sun or too close to a blackhole (which shouldn't be a problem, because you just need to avoid the Event Horizon and even then, the MF can clearly move faster than the speed of light). Phase Space is, to me, another dimension, which safely allows us to ignore the speed of light rules. Elasped over regular space, two points are much, much clo

One phase jump away is a bit of a misnomer. Systems are so big that the only way to relatively travel them in any sort of time is to do a small phase jump to your destination, which is near instant travel, considering that it's a system used for interplanetary travel. However, you still can travel using sublight engines, if you're willing to take several days (or weeks or months, depending on how stealthy you want to be about it). As for the Anubis Station, it's actually b

Now you see why it took so damn long to write. That, and my sleeping schedule's gone all to hell. Anyway's, just to let everyone know, the next update will be the last in the book, at which point I'll either do an encyclopedia type thingy, or I'll just right into Book 3 which will move from the Advent front to the Northern Kingdoms, which will feature the Vasari rather prominently. I'll also take a look into some returning characters that're trapped behind enemy lines, as

Saints of a Solar Empire Book 2, Part 10: Falling Stars Fleet Mistress Altima stared through the glassy walls of the pod to the figure it encased. Twelve weeks had passed since the Battle of Naeve. Her people had suffered far more losses in those few days than they had in the entire course of their retribution. The First Sword of Third Fleet had been blunted, broken...shattered. Altima could feel the mourning of the survi

Autobot Matrix of Leadership>All-spark. Considering the lore than what makes transformers what they are is their 'spark', the All-spark could be akin to their primordial ooze, but considering their non-organic nature, I suppose they can't just boink to procreate their species. Though when Galvatron makes his inevitable appearance in the movies, I do hope that Leonard Nimoy voices him again. The 1986 movie rocks the socks. Except for that token pain in the ass huma
