It took me forever to learn about making Allies, but if u play any of the bigger games you are really going to have to deal with them, They will even help protect your systems with their ships while you go off and take out your next person. It's amazing to see them mass their fleets to help you attack a planet. Then you just clean upthe mess and take the planet, but watch out, once you destroy your last enemy and then its just two of left, well, watch out as things fall apart quickly an

This is mainly speaking with the Advent. I've not used the TEC or Varsari cruisers that much, but here's what I have for the Advent. Once I get my Advent cruiser fleet up and going, its like a kill zone as the fire power the Cruisers present in taking out frigates and bombers is incrediable. However, I agree with TheRedMaw, you have to have Illuminators, Guardians, some fighter wings to help counter the Cruisers. Illuminators can move and shoot much better then the cruisers. The cruise

A nice mix of offensive and defensive ships is needed. You need to get out there and explore and attack, but also defend the home system. I too was surprised at how quickly the AI's start using the WH *worm holes. You can't get to that research area until you get 4 or 5 Military or Civilian Research stations up and running. I find that the AI likes to do hit and run tactics. They will pop into your system and see what you have, if you are able to defend, they will run more likely then try to fi

You have to leave a small defensive fleet behind if you go off romping somewhere. I usually defend with at least one Cap Ship and support vessels. Leave it in a choke point area where it can defend. Ships have a tendancy to move out and engage the enemy on the preferry the gravity zone. If that happends, move you fleet back in close to your planet where they can be supported by your defensive guns. Also, two repair stations covering your main guns, one on the right and o

I have had the same problem with 4 to 6 AI players. After 3 or 4 hours into the game, I find myself trying to defend myself from 2 to 3 players at once in a few systems. They I spend my money trying to rebuild and trying not to be the person the Pirates go after. On a few occasions, when the pirates were suppose to go after someone else, they actually came and attacked my system. talk about fustration. My problem is also that I've not worked on any diplamacy at all. I'm like, Damn,

With so much to learn about this game, I also didn't know about that area where you build up your commanders and fleet caps. I must have played 4 or 5 games before I realized something was wrong and I came here to get some info. Now I'm building 3 to 4 Cap ships of varing capabilities, adding lots of diverse frigates, and I'm learning to add a few Cruisers with air wings. The air wings are great support for me so far and do lots of support. They are also really cool to see all those little figh

Well, its good to know that I'm not the only one having a tough time with this. I love playing Civ games and do well with those type of games. I've been playing small and medium randome as well as a few scenarios, but so far i've gotten my ass kicked. I keep coming back to the forum to get ideas and then go back to the game. Boy this is a big learning curve. I can expand to about 3 to 4 planets, before I get hit by someone. Pretty soon, it Capital ship vs. Capital ship. I've
