Hello all - I've noticed something strange with almost all of my random-map games. I always choose a Huge map and anywhere from 3-5 other civs, and every single time (without exception) there is another civilization literally right next to me. I tried generating a huge map with only 2 civs and I still keep having a civ right on top of me. Is this normal, a bug, or is there some setting I am missing?

Do the monsters even attack the AI at all? I like to play on Dense as well, but on that setting my Scouts can hardly get 5 tiles away from the town before they're mauled. The AI's scouts just run around willy-nilly without a care in the world. I will also come upon AI outposts and cities with very powerful critters just hanging out within the area of influence like it's no big deal, whereas if it was my outpost they would turn it into paste

I've discovered in my most recent playthrough that I'm unable to do any quests at all. I've unlocked all the way up to Breon's Letters (max), but even if I try to do easy quests, it says that I have to research (heroes, etc) to do it and it has the red lock icon over it.

Just to give an example of what I'm talking about re: monsters - I just started a new game, scouted the area around me and there are two expansion slots near, and vast, dangerous wasteland/forest/baddies everywhere else. The nearest expansion has a Hoarder Spider's Army right on top of it - Strong, 151/21/342 Att/Def/Hp. The instant my town expands its area of influence, it is rubble. The other expansion has an Umberdroth on it - L9 Strong, 27/20/86 Att/Def/Hp. There's also a L9 O

Yea[quote who="Kongdej" reply="5" id="3204087"] Quoting Stornskar, reply 3I still think a non-magic version of the arcane tower (maybe it costs gold/crystals and requires tech) should be available. As it stands, I can't imagine playing a faction that doesn't have Enchanters Pioneers can build outposts... Not to be harsh, but did you play the tutorial (Wanna know how flawed or unflawed the tutorial is, of if its the interface in general that could use a boost)<br

Thanks for the explanation regarding monsters Ds - I did eventually discover that the lair creatures start chasing you once they're in your zone (after placing an arcane monolith in an ill-advise spot near an Ophidian lair). Kong - re: them being mutually exclusive, I agree that an alternative would be to have the penalty outweigh the benefits. As it is now, you get the +1 to attack and 50% all hero recruiting costs for nothing. I still think a non-magic versio

Hey all, I played Elemental for quite a while, but only recently downloaded the FE beta and started playing it. Some quick, initial observations on my part 1) Creature difficulty is high early in the game - unlike Elemental, you are very limited to where you can expand, and I've found that there are some very tough creatures very close to your starting location. I find it extremely difficult to make and defend new settlements ... having two is a challenge, t

I loved Elemental and played it a lot, just downloaded FE Beta to give it a try. I've been having the same issues the OP mentions. It seems that the level of the monsters near my starting town is just too high. We're quite restricted on where we can place new towns now, and in most playthroughs I've done the nearest expansion slot is surrounded by medium and strong ranked monsters who will swoop in and maul any expansion town or outpost I have. I've got militia and spearmen ta

I can't seem to figure out how to get the sound to run the game in 5.1 surround sound - I don't see any option in the sound control console (only volume). I am using Windos Vista with a Creative Labs SB X-Fi sound board, and it currently only plays out of the front two speakers. Any help would be appreciated
