tried going on there, was able to update the drivers after using the modified file that allows the driver install to recognize the video card, but I still have the same problem with Sins simply crashing immediately on startup.

still haven't found a resolution for this issue yet, even after reinstalling the game and rolling back drivers =(
The drivers are the latest drivers for the 8600m GT, however unforunately nVidia no longer apparently support this device in any way, and tells those with it to go to their manufacturers website for drivers, in this case, Acer. The driver they have there is exactly the one I have installed, however I tried to uninstall and reinstall the driver, and the driver setup program cancelled itself saying that it found no compatible hardware on my system. On my laptop, Sins has always been a little shaky and prone to CTD events, even after patching, however now whenever I attempt to launch the game, the screen goes black and the game crashes, giving me a mini-dump message and then Windows telling me that Sins has stopped working.
