I'll grant that some of the tactical structures aren't purely defensive/aren't used defensively, but isn't the civilian tree the LEAST reasonable place to put these structures?

There are still quite a few defensive structures that aren't in the defense tree. Even stranger, many of them are in the civilian tree, which confused me even from day one. Techs for repair bays, phase jump inhibitors, nano weapon jammers, and antimatter rechargers are still in the wrong tree. In fact the only structure of this kind which was correctly moved to defense tree was shield generator. Easily fixed, right?

If you have a trade port in a star, the star's name will be listed in the list of trade wells when you mouseover credits. If you have population centers in a star, there will be a separate section for credit income at the bottom called "starbases." It doesn't list the individual bases/wells however, which I agree would be a welcome tweak.

I saw them go about 3/4 of the way down an average phase lane. Not surprisingly, the game crashed soon after (my only crash in 2.5 so far). Took several minutes for them to get that far ... so it seems safe to say its not deliberate.

Is it possible to move the TargetCountPerBank into the individual weapon descriptions? Example: A ship has laser turret and missiles. I want to make the laser bank fire forward at a single target. I want the missiles to fire in all directions at multiple targets. But I have to choose between TargetCountPerBank:FRONT 4, in which case the laser incorrectly fires at 4 targets, or TargetCountPerBank:FRONT 1, in which case the forward missiles incorre

"The anime are restless!" Love that line. When I'm playing alone with my headphones and I hear it I go: ME: Hey, guess what! EVERYONE ELSE IN THE ROOM: What? ME: The anime are restless. I got crashes half hour into game in 2.0 and sometimes got screen artifacts/major slowdowns in combat (even with very small number of units). In 2.5 I play as long as I want with perfect frame rate and maxed settings no matter what. Yahay!

I'm not a pro player but I've got many many hours of gaming under my belt (mostly SP). In general I leave autocast on for most of my ships. In fact I use it more than the default setting (like I autocast anima swarm, finest hour, etc; tho I sometimes cast it manually before the AI does it for me). But I don't mind having to turn on autocast and certainly wouldnt mind being able to set that in a game menu. The really big issue is abilities that can/do get cast the moment you buy them,

If they say somthing isn't,or is going to be in the game then they most likely have a very good reason for it. Just my 2 bobs worth.
We're beta testers. I always wait to buy Clairvoyance until my Revelation is in phase space and I'll have time to turn off auto-cast. I agree - this could stand some fixing.

I stand convinced. Thank you all for an excellent debate; I think this really helped codify the thinking behind the use of starbases in the context of the rest of the game (if only in my mind; maybe you all already had it figured out). : ) I am now convinced that stationary starbases are, in the context of the fleets/factions they are aligned with, appropriate more or less as they are. Excellent points all around; I salute you all and thank you again for a well-thought out, in
It seems that what you are really arguing for is a better phase jump inhibitor, not a moving sb. With an improved pji, it doesn't matter which phase lane your sb is covering - the enemy ships still cannot jump further into your system until they take it out. And that pji might just be sitting next to your unmoving tec or advent sb.
I frankly am reasonably happy with the phase jump degredation of the cu
