Lol. Yea i've been playing with it a bit. Its interesting. In order to survive, pretty much every planet has to be self sufficient in defense or have a fleet within reasonable jump distance. Also capital planets are much easier to raid. Everything feels more fluid.

yea i suppose there's alot of ways to get er done. now im just wondering how it plays? obviously choke points are gone and considering the use of the Z axis im guessing each individual planet will need lots of hanger bays

you sure about that? I saw some of his other posts on the forum about this sort of idea and it sounded like placing the actual structures. how are you suggesting to do it precisely? (im a programmer and modder so you dont need to dumb it down for me)

wont AI's get stuck trying to destroy them or do they just ignore them because they are invincible? also, placing phase nodes on every planet on the map prlly takes about the same time as my method (python program) and it fits into the situation more plausibly, how could you explain away a phase node sitting in orbit of every planet in the galaxy? some other race was there way before the TEC, Advent and Vasari and installed all these phase nodes before you got there? NO! I WANT TO BE THE

what has already been done? using the phase nodes or my method with the thousands of phase lanes? and even using the phase nodes would seem to have problems as they could be destroyed in combat.

Whoops, according to my calculations my original programming missed about 3 thousand connections, you can actually see some of the missing areas in the second screenshot (Abkhazia is missing a lot of connections). Updated it now though and have accounted for every single connection on the map.

Its never made sense to me to limit which planets ships can jump to from any given planet. Its open space right? You should be able to punch it to warp and head to any destination in the galaxy. I've always wanted to do away with phase lanes completely and now I have achieved that goal. Well technically I made over 6 thousand phase lanes but it has the same effect. Check it out! Im not up to date on this thread so i apologize if it has already been asked but is there a way to remove the icon from a unit or building? in other words,it it would only be visible when zoomed in?

Im not too worried about Sins plot cannon tbh. I have just always hated the restrictions on phase jumping in the game. Im making a mod where all planets and all stars are connected via phase lanes to all other's in the entire map and there is no difference in phase jump speed between planets in different solar systems vs planets in the same solar systems. It just never made sense in my mind, if you have warp 9 capabilities, why go crawling along inside a solar system at warp 2 and

Theres no good way to do it through the technology itself as opposed to the artifact? also which artifact would it be? Jump Drive Relic?

Any idea how to make a faction start with the Galaxy Travel / Inter-Star phase drive already researched? I found the entity file for the technology "RESEARCHSUBJECT_ARTIFACT_GALAXYTRAVEL" but it doesn't look like that is the place I need to be.

Yes I have done the first of the two approaches you describe already, at least all the planets within a single system have been connected. In my larger maps connecting each planet to each other planet in every other star system would seemingly take a lifetime (around 100 planets in one of my maps). Is there any quicker way of accomplishing a total connection between every planet in every system with every other planet in every other system without simply sitting in Galaxy Forge and drawing th

[quote who="GoaFan77" reply="1850" id="3366730"] Quoting teeheez, reply 1849 Anyone know where the code for Galaxy Travel (aka between stars) is located? I dont mean the research or artifact entities. I just want to try changing the code that actually controls the parameters of the interstellar phase jumps. To do what exactly? You cannot access the game's source code directly, but depending on what you want to do there are a handful of modifiers scattered abo
