I found this solution in another thread : "This happend to me, Go into impulse and in my games, click verify instalation for entrenchment, it should say update avalable, so click update and it will download a small update and then it should be good, otherwise try a reinstall if the other solutions don't work. Good luck!" Try that, mine is updating now.</

I just tried to start Entrenchment and I have the same problem. It crashes on startup and I have just installed the newest patch. I'm running XP 32 bit, last time I tried to run Sins was after I bought Entrenchment about a month ago.
There are many things I would like to see added, but the most relevant to this topic would be changing the pirate asteroid base to be more like a unique pirate starbase i.e. packing a ton of firepower and very hard to take down. But no longer capture-able (makes sense that pirates would rather die than allow their stuff to be captured sort of like the Turanic Raiders in Homeworld).
The Klingon lineup looks pretty cool. I come from playing Birth of the Federation so I am pleased to see the K'vort is a powerful vessel, and not merely a slightly bigger bird of prey. Do you have any plans to flesh out the Cardassian and Romulan ship line up? There might not be a great deal of variety in canon but there are obviously plenty of 'expanded' universe ships. It just strikes me as strange that none of the other races have numerical parity with the Federation. I would expec
I don't suppose that the character limit for renaming planets & ships has been increased? I would like to be able to give my ships and planets longer names, the limit is too short :(
Oh and also there must be Draymans! (Make them the trade transport or equivalent!)
I was just giving some thought to the sides, I noticed in the updated first post it says: "The Initium will place You in a Universe, where the Terrans, Kilrathi and Border Worlds / Nephilim fight over the control of the galaxy." I got to thinking about the sides that could implemented in this mod, and obviously the Confederation, Kilrathi and Nephilim are obvious choices. Thinking about the Border Worlds though, I tried to come up with some ideas that would give them some kind of parity
This sounds like good news, I would love to play a WC mod. Tons of carriers and a greater emphasis on fighters and bombers would be an interesting change of gameplay dynamic. I'm afraid I don't have any skills to offer to help though :( Ideas though, I have plenty. Are you looking to have Terran Confederation and Kilrathi only? Or Border Worlds and the alien bug things from Prophecy..... Nihilum isn't it? Theres plenty of ships classes and types to choose from too of course, fighters, b
One thing I would really like to know is what kind of scale is this aiming for? I mean in terms of what constitutes a 'big' fleet, because as far as I'm concerned 40 starships should be a massive fleet, taking the example of how many ships the Federation got together to try and fight the Borg at Wolf 359. Once again bringing the game BOTF as an example, 40 ships was about 4 full task forces, and that would be a huge number of ships. In the DS9 episodes Sacrifice of Angels there were
Having read that the team is having problems with Aft phasers, does this mean you are also having problems with ALL aft-firing weapons? I.e. torpedoes, because if you can have Aft torpedoes then I would assume that would be good enough, and realistic, since at least most of the Federation vessels I am aware of had aft torpedo launchers. However now that I think about it, Cardassian ships are renowned for having 100% phaser coverage in their ship designs, so perhaps its best that a worka
Star Trek: Birth of the Federation, is in my opinion the finest Space 4X game ever created. I have been dreaming of a sequel for years.
http://memory-alpha.org/en/wiki/Star_Trek:_The_Next_Generation_-_Birth_of_the_Federation For your consideration. This article lists the ships from BOTF, along with their functions. As well as minor races and techs, and basically all the 4x elements of the game. Plenty of ideas here. Particularly ship roles and ship class names, especially for the Romulans and Cardassians. Minor races and 'random' creatures are listed here too. I would love to see the Sins militia mechan
1. Dual/Quad/Multi core support. 2. More victory conditions. I.e. %of galaxy under control 3. Espionage/sabotage - Take a leaf out of Birth of the Federation's system. 4. Improved/deeper diplomacy, again take a leaf out of Birth of the Federation system. 5. Interaction with militia/minor races, another Birth of the Federation strong point. 6. More variety in planetoid types, shapes, sizes, appearance. 7. More artifacts and planet attributes. 8. Constructible outposts
1. Starbases. To build and fortify neutral sectors. 2. Diplomatic relations with militia's/minor races, who have bonuses you could acquire when you either conquer them or bring them into the fold diplomatically. 3. Random events, like spacial anomalies that move through space, i.e. nebulae and moving plasma storms, or asteroid fields or comets which can pose a threat to ships and colonies. Marauding pirate fleets with capital ships, perhaps mobile pirate bases. Some kind
Reaper I hear you about the Ferengi, BOTF showed that they can be a playable race, while they might not be technically or militarily dominant, their amazing economy bonuses makes the loss of any individual ship easily replaceable. In BOTF they can afford to simply buy more ships than other races, and make up for their inferior strength with numbers and maneuverability. However that being said I gather that at least for the initial release, this mod is focusing on Dominion War era races,
Ok, I have alot of input on a Star Trek mod for Sins. As I outlined in my last post in this thread I think the game Birth of the Federation would be an excellent model for elements to be modded into sins. Firstly races and new ships, the spaceships in BOTF could easily form the majority of the roster for this sins mod. Each race in BOTF had a scout ship, a light destroyer, a heavy destroyer, a colony ship, a strike cruiser (for long range combat and planetary bombardment) a flagship, a battleshi
I just got Sins, after looking for a game that would emulate Birth of the Federation, which is an old turn based strategy game which was incredibly awesome. I remember that BotF had alot of extra Romulan and Cardassian ships created to fulfill specific roles, such as planetary bombardment and colonisation, I was wondering, does the team know of BotF and will you try implementing some of the ships/gameplay elements from that game? It seems to me that Sins would be a perfect fit for BotF, if a
