OOPS, I need to clarify: ANY ENEMY ship entering it's activation radius triggers explosion! (it would be silly for friendlies to blow themselves up! :) :D

Officially Teased... :CONGRAT:
You could try this: Ship A follows ship B, B=>C, C=>D, and so on... ...You can make all sorts of configurations... Once I had all my ships making a ring around the planet, they started rising and finally ended up in a tight cluster over the north pole of my home-planet! If it were an enemy planet and my fleet were sieges, I would have had death from above :)
That's okay, since I finished my mine functionality Thursday (and gave myself the "Boom-Da-Yada" achievement :CONGRAT: couldn't resist :) I wanted to test it to be sure and not declare early victory like I did a few weeks ago with my glorified homing missiles :) They are a near-perfect, fully featured implementation... Here's what my mines do... ANY ship entering it's activation radius triggers the mine to explode Fighters do not trigger the mines (wasteful of
The original post references minefield generators: did SINS have these or something similar at some point (in beta)???
The STAR WARS mod (test version) has been out since 1.05 came out, and it has a dozen or so starwars ships... The ships are WAY too overpowered, but that is to it's credit, and you can easily hook up the Nebulon B included in it's fileset (and use the "Shield_PlanetAsteroid" mesh as a deathstar!!! Again: It's out NOW!!! YAY!!!
...Hmmmmmmm, I feel a disturbance in the Bot... ...It hasn't been this strong since...
If you start out with a weapons platform, you will have "weapon" functionality, then you can use abilities in battle to spawn a carrier! If you make the carrier mesh really small (4 triangles), and use a hanger mesh for the platform itself, then you can appear to have a hanger with weapons... You can also do it the other way around, spawning weapon-frigates around the hanger bay (for the duration you need)...
It is essentially impossible to *AVOID* knowing about bots and still play WoW
Unless the player IS a bot!
LOL!!! ;) I see you're using the "Fourth" reference from my tutorial, I like it!!!
Oh and about the Breen, I remember seeing a Big Breen ship, AND a Meduim Breen ship, one with fewer sweeping arcs on it, and I'm sure it wasn't the same one further away... I haven't seen the show much in a long time, so I can't say where it was...
I love all your ships and recognize the mountain of work for what it is: ahuge accomplishment, the number of things completed is staggering! :CONGRAT: :CONGRAT: :CONGRAT: :CONGRAT: :CONGRAT: :CONGRAT: :CONGRAT:
Deiner English ist besser als mein Deutsch... (Zwei Jahre auf Uni) ...Sprechen nur Deutsch, dass die Kindern nicht verstehen kann :) :D I agree the particle system is powerful and hasn't been explored. Can't wait to see all the standard Goa-uld pyramid ship flying about...
Look at the abilities that give fighters extra armor, extra strikecraft, etc, Notice how it uses the "ApplyBuffToTargetsLinked" (or whatever the words are)... ...The abilities are cast from the mothership that the fighters are attached to, and give the fighters the effect of the abilities. The only problem is the parent ship is the one casting the ability... ...but a lot of things are doable with this framework...
There is a progression to everything: First->Second->etc... HoneyMooners->FlintStones->Simpsons->FamilyGuy->MajorDad Dune2->Command+Conquer->StarCraft Empire->ReachForTheStars->SINS The new American fighter planes are now 5th generation, so HURRAY for ripoffs!!!

I believe games should be about Exploring the Possibilities of the Universe, and not about Enforcement of Simulated Achievement Games like EVE and World of Warcraft are supposed to be fun and involving, and they are to a certain extent... ...and not a place to live (Second Life?) :) My point is that we purposely bog ourselves down in rules that don't need to apply in a simulated environment. If we lived as kings on the internet, we wou
oops, I may need to clarity it being the Research Tree stuff, just in case I didn't get the sequence of words just right... Since building a research station is part of the cost of Tree research...
Another thing you could figure this out for is the Tech Planet Upgrade Research... (I'm playing a modded version that starts with a civilian lab, as well as a few other goodies that you wouldn't normally start with)... ...It's your Homeworld Afterall... (to the tune of "It's a small world, afterall")
Commander: "What's behind that door?" Ensign: "The hanger bays" Commander: "Hanger bays?!, why didn't you tell me sooner?" Ensign: "We were using it to play Hold'em Poker"
I agree that recalling capital ships to install physical upgrades makes sense... I have often thought that in the heat of battle, the crew quickly reads through the owner's manual for the ship, or through experience, finds the little red button somewhere on the ship that activates the ability (and with further experience, finds the extra switched next to that red button in order to upgrade those abilities)... ---This brings to mind Ripley in the Alien movie fumbling around w
Their actual numbers in the Universe are high by human standards, but their percentages in relation to all other planets combined makes them very rare :) :D
I've been using shield meshes to make new spaceships... The hard part is re-skinning them to look like they weren't salvaged :) :D The pic itself is a spoof of my own mod In the lower right you see the Space Manatee nosing down the original ship from where the mesh came...
Heechee and Rama Series... (and their respective authors!) A couple years ago I had to read both Faulkner and Murakami in a class... I liked how Murakami let you make your own decisions about the characters, even though the events went all Douglas Adams on me (also a good thing)... The opposite with Faulkner, (I know it's supposed to be classic and all that, but you have to keep in mind who decides what gets on that list!)... How about the Berzerker seri
I made a local militia based on the Conundrum episode of ST: TNG (it was on again last night, just love to see one big ship instantly destroy six little ones...
