I wish scaling was a little better, bigger planets to make the scale of units look more real.

Some games these days are coming out with borderless window panes for their products, could that be incorporated?
I get the same problem, game just goes straight to desktop, now I do get dumpfiles but they require 'Special' programs and they show as 0K so they must be either TINY or they're glitched as well. Five-ten seconds is NOT enough time to clear all the mines, you'd be better off just sending a scouting party ahead and find the mines then destroy them. Good enough though to get you an idea what you'd be getting into so you can start forming strategies. I like the idea that various ships jump first though. Send in the anti-fighter and normal (disciple, etc) frigates as well as heavy cruisers. Then Capitols and Long Range units, then support, then planetary assault
that would be interesting, imagine all your mines flying at a fleet only to have then stop in there tracks and attacking yours. Priceless. Probably a tech to give to your tech capitol ships because I can see it being overused by other frigates.
What about giving the Guarda Flak Frigates and its other counterparts the ability to shoot mines, they already attack fighters and bombers, it would make sense if they could engage mines as well.

Could there be a animation of the ships leaving dock after construction? It would be neat to see the ship leave the dock after construction.
Sounds like a interesting concept... kinda like Supreme Commander with one of their official mods. That would be a interesting thing to see. But with Dead Asteroids can only build Tactical Structures right? The game would have to have a fully unlocked Tech Tree so players can do what they want. Other than that, it would be a really cool game style!
I like the idea of more movement with the capital ships. Empire at War had that problem as well, the fighters would engage, but the cap ships would just park and bark at each other. We just need the codes to modify the ship behavior files for combat...
