Here is my preferred build order, regardless of faction. I do believe it is the most efficient build order at the moment. Each line shows a number of actions that can be done all at once, the order you perform the actions on each line doesn't really matter as long as you do them all as quickly as possible. 1. Build capital ship factory / Buy 100 crystal / Upgrade home planet population / Build cry
Yeah, real bummer the game isn't auto-lose for anyone who isn't Vasarri in games that last longer than an hour.
I don't find it that hard to believe. If I remember correctly, your trade ships don't grant sight to grav wells that you don't have any bigger ships or buildings on. So no one would even know what he was doing unless they scouted it out.
If you're only spending 500 credits, the pirate attack could be held off with a few quickly assembled planetary defenses and/or frigates. The bulk of my fleet could stay engaged with you. Spend any more and then that's money that you didn't spend on your fleet. In the end they ARE simply a nuissance and they don't add much strategy to the game.
As Tidus just said, in games with good players no one even bids on them because its just free XP. Why would anyone pay money to give their oppoenent another cap ship level?
Playing with pirates is actually less strategy. Pro games are always pirates off.
Yeah, it's called micromanagement. Use it.
People still play with pirates?
Anything can be good if you're just playing the retardo AI. Play against real people and your Cap ships will get focused on and killed, or you'll be foreced to retreat them before the cooldown on your first set of abilities is even over. In 1.05 it was LRM's and now in 1.1 it's bombers that will just tear them to pieces while your fleet tries to chase down the carriers that are circling the grav well.
What is the best way to use flak anyway? - Force fire on each strike-craft individually? - Sit your flaks in the area where the most strike-craft are and have them auto-target? - Something else?
[quote who="-Ue_Carbon" reply="8" id="1953845"] Yes they are big slow expensive targets. Any Cap ship by itself will lose to any average/small frigate fleet. Caps are ment to agument your frigates and cruisers. As exampled above, Kol are can be crazy damage absobers. Carriers are ment to add unique fighter/bomber to the mix. Example: Sova has heavy Fighters. Helps with DPS and give bomber/fighters better chance surviving more than 1 or 2 runs. You can argue back and forth about how good
Capital ships ARE fun... if watching your fleet get massacred is your idea of fun, that is.
Don't bother making a second one though. Frigates and cruisers give you more bang for the buck.
I never put my fleets into actually "fleets". I just always right click the green arrow "group jump" button until it shows 3 arrows. That's all you really need.
Yes, stop playing the silly AI and join us on ICO!
Ok Hydro, here's the scoop: There is no auto-reserach. Deciding which techologies to reserach and when to get them is a big portion of the game, you must learn how to do it yourself. For every research center you build, it will highlight one teir of the appropriate tech (civillian or military, depending upon the type of station you built). That does NOT mean you have those techs, it just means you have the ability to reserach them. You then must spend money and click on the specific t
Capital ships are nothing more than expensive, big, slow targets. They're good for nothing besides clearing out planets to colonize and drawing fire from the enemy fleet before retreating. They're just too expensive, for the same amount of money you can make frigates and cruisers that dish out and take 10X as much punishment. I never make a second one after getting my original for free.
The point is, if you can afford 2 novalith cannons, you could have probably won the game (or be well on your way) without messing around with the pirates.
Yeah, you still go crystal first.
First of all, you only need to buy 100 crystal to perform everything in step 2. Next, now that colony ships come out of the frigate factory with full antimatter, we don't need to start with the colonizer capital ship every time. As far as fleet composition goes, now that carriers and strike craft are buffed spamming LRM's and HC's isn't really the best strategy anymore. I'm not sure, but so far it seems that actual balanced fleets seem to be more viable. Capital ships
They are aware and are working on it.
This mod looks fun. I'm going to try it with my roommate one of these days.
