Well you seemed to have proven that it can be done legally, but from the general response I can see from everyone I don't think they were too worried about the legal aspects. If I'm correct and I may not be, but I think there's just not too much of an interest in such a mod plus the resources for mods on SoaSE are stretched enough as it is. Do as you will, but I figured I'd point that out.

Well from experience they are not the same patch. Try playing a LAN game, one with the patch from the site and the other patch from SDC. You can't play together until you both do it the same way.

Hmm, well I know myself when I bought it the music disc was missing. I didn't know it, I was walking around the mall and the guy found me and brought me back so he could give it to me. I was lucky that way cause the only reason why I got the collectors edition was cause of the music and because I thought that you got that Mycolors desktop theme for the game too. One thing I want to add is that although piracy is bad in a lot of ways, I think its good on another part. Sins of a Solar Empire I got it in the form of a ripped copy, my buddy played it for an hour but wasn't having any fun with it but wanted to play a LAN game.
