As has been said above: Ascendancy. Nothing else need be said!

Hi everyone, I have noticed something curious in my Sins games recently. Ship movement speeds are suddenly really fast. I haven't changed any settings or anything, but the default movement speed is all of a sudden much faster than it used to be. The strange thing is that the change in speed hasn't come due to version change. I am on v1.03, and have been since it came out. I played one huge map when v1.03 first came out, and I was on that sucker for about two weeks
Yes, Ascendancy! I have said before in other threads how for me, every 4x based game I have played has been compared to Ascendancy and found lacking. That is why I was so pleased to play Sins of a Solar Empire, it was just what I had been missing! I used to love Ascendancy so much. It is still up on my cd rack at this very moment, even though I haven't played it in 7 years or more... You know, I had never even heard of an Ascendancy 2, vapourware or no... Unfor
I didn't really think about it much before, but I guess I prefer no campaign in a way... The good 4x games I have played and enjoyed in the past were kind of a sandbox experience. You have this one planet, and a whole universe to explore.. You just go and do what you want... I do appreciate that some people would like a bit more of a story to play through, but I feel when I play 4x/rts games with campaigns that I am being pushed to follow someone elses idea of what I should be doi
Here Here... I am an Aussie (who would have thought with my nickname) and buying online was a hassle free experience. It was my first game download purchase, which I was driven to do because I just couldn't wait to play this game till our release date. (They delay for the bank to setup my debit card was intolerable!). I did not have any problem at all. Other than not having a shiny manual to put up on my shelf with the rest of my handbooks, it is no difference. Though, give
Thank-you for a brilliant gaming experience! I must say, I've looked around for just the right kind of 4x game for some time now (yeah yeah, RT4X...whatever) that could be just the right kind of game for me... Galactic Civ, Star Wars Rebellion, Master of Orion (3), few others (that i can see on my shelf from where I sit)... but I must say, none of those other games managed to bring the sort of 4X that I really yearned for. I was always comparing inside my mind to my old g
[quote]I added the buff from the Ion Blast that disables phase jump to the Hyperspace Disruption buff and then gave my carrier the Hyperspace Disruption ability. The range on it is relatively low and they could have easily moved outside of the radius also to retreat. Or like I said they could have just destroyed the ship and then retreated. I don't know how the AI thinks, or how it's supposed to think, but shouldn't it at least have some "fight or flight" instinct and when it can't 'fly' it shou
[quote]I just had a problem with the AI. I modded a Sova Carrier to have the Phase Jump Disruption ability, but modded the ability so that it would completely stop phase jump at the cost of being unable to defend itself i.e. no weapons and a 1000/2000 hull/shield split. I also modded most of the caps ships and beefed them up. My problem came when I sent in a Carrier and two Colonys into a planet well. The enemy force was sixty 10-damage ships and one cap ship with a 45-50-75 damage per weapon an
I'd be keen for a night game also (Brisbanite here), possible weekends too, depending on the wife and kids. I was reading a post on PC Powerplay forum where some people had been organising some weekend games using Hamachi to set up a virtual private network to play over, but that thread seems to have died by the time I was able to purchase the game and actually think of playing.
