No "race" is overpowered. Certain abilities are broken or unbalanced. If you asked me though, TEC are the most balanced race (but also the weakest in game since they don't have super overpowered crap).

I agree. Except TA multiplayer *SUCKED*. Get back with me on what the most popular RTS of all time is after you understand that. :) (Something Sins could learn from).

#1 is stability of course. Beyond that, it's fixing the broken abilities (RA, repulsion, brilliance + malice, subverters, i'm looking at you!) and adding faster settings for large multiplayer games.

Here's my list: 1. Fix the crash bug. 2. Replace repulsion (advent gaurdian ability) 3. Replace RA 4. Fix Malice + Brilliance 5. Faster culture rate spread through phase lanes. These things alone would greatly improve the game. (As we can see from the 1.04 patch, minor fixes go extremely far in balancing the game). Stardock is doing a great job so far with patches. More of the same, applied liberally, will make this good game into a great game

The only time I've *ever* seen culture used successfully as a defensive device is if someone owns an entire system in a multi-giant system game. Otherwise, all you do is destroy their media hub and sit on their planet while you laugh at how quickly their culture is retreating. As I said, the biggest problem with culture is that it takes far too long to spread in the phase lanes. Essentially, your culture is doing nothing for 10-15 minutes, then it ever-so-slowly starts to build you

To illustrate my point: play any single player map with all the speed settings on slow, and culture on fast. Build a broadcast center. What happens? Let's analyse what happens in detail: You spend 900 credits, 100 metal, and 150 crystal on a culture building. You also use 4 logistical slots. Immediately, the planet you build the culture center on starts gaining income from increased alligence to a maximum of +10% income / alligence. After a VERY, VERY, VERY, VERY long

What is the counter for heavy cruisers then, besides bombers? Believe it or not, if flak are fixed, it might actually balance out heavy cruisers. As it stands, the only way to really beat HC is with more HC (because he'll counter your bombers with a few flak and you'll be screwed very quickly)

1. Guardian abilities. Repulsion needs to simply be eliminated and distortion field is overpowered. 2. Subverter. Overpowered. 3. Malice + Brilliance. Overpowered. 4. Strike craft do not change speed between slow, normal, and fast settings. 5. Flak are far too efficient in destroying strike craft. 6. Heavy Cruisers do too much damage to light frigates (considering these are to be a counter to HC) 7. Shield mitigation is not high enough. 8. Culture spreads far too slowly and

The problem with heavy cruisers + flak is that the flak are tough puppies. It seems really lame to me that the only solution for beating flak + HC is more HC or obviously OP units. There really should be something to counter HC (light frigs are supposed to, but do a seriously crappy job due to HC's only doing 25% less damage to them.)

So, the easy way to take out Heavy Cruisers I've always found is to use bombers. However, with a single flak being able to take out 60-70 bombers, flak's high armor, combined with heavy cruiser's high firepower, what is the counter? Normally light frigates counter flak, but with heavy cruisers, the light frigates are torn to shreads in an instant. Malice + Brilliance and RA aside, how do you beat this combination?

Artificially inflating another races economy creating an imbalance in power. The way it is now is "helpful"; anything more would be excessive. Say 2 friends got together against 2 other players, but the other two players dont know they are friends. So one friend builds an economy specifically for transfer while the other friend increases his military prowess artifically large and have the means to wipe out the two opponents quickly (even if the other friend is wiped out). At least I think thats

It's funny when the enemy has tier 8 economy and not even a cap ship. Not funny when they are your ally.

I'm a primarily Vasari player and I hate playing with RA. It's simply just not fun to use stratigically, or to have to fight against. Some people say, "nerf RA", but I say that RA needs to be done away with altogether. It simply doesn't jive with the Vasari's 'specialty'. If you look in the diplomacy tab of the game, there are three ratings. Military, Empire, and Economy. Each race specializes in one of these three, Vasari military, Advent empire, and TEC economy. In m

Things to check for the next patch: Minidump bug. Multiplayer chat. Vasari tech tree. Siege frigate costs. Bomber / fighter damage. Sova embargo (shouldn't be able to use on home worlds until level 3 upgrade). Less important, but nice features: More planet types More AI difficulty settings Start location choice in MP

Embargo itself is not overpowered. Embargo on capital planets is overpowered. I frequently face TEC opponents who use Sova on Maelstrom or what have you, and I'm always able to destroy the Sova. The problem is that even though I destroy their cap ship, my economy and expansion has slowed down so much that the opponent still ends up with a net positive over me. IMO, embargo should be changed so it cannot be used on capital planets until level 3 upgrade.

I did my own testing on the black market with about 500,000 credits. I bought as much crystal as possible clicking the button as fast as possible. The highest price I saw? 574 credits per 100 crystal. Seriously, when the price reaches the upper 500's it drops so fast that clicking on it constantly can't raise it. Why is this set up like this?

This is an interesting point. It's a last ditch strategy IMO...you're caught with your pants down and you don't have the resources or tech to make flak vs LRMs, scouts can save you. Factor in the quick build time and you have yourself a pretty cool last-ditch counter. Interesting.

A good point from this thread to garner: Even if you lose a fight with focus fire, you still kill some of their ships. I tend to focus fire ships one at a time until I get a larger fleet, and then I split up my focus firing based on positioning.
