It seems practically every game has people at launch with various crashes and ultimately it's traced back to their manually messing with page file size. People who write those stupid "tweak" guides really do a disservice to the general populace. Anybody who has manually adjusted their page file needs to put a sticky note on their monitor reminding them to turn it back to Windows-managed as the very first troubleshooting step every time they have a problem with any

So first contact with bad guys after finding half of ship. Video freezes solid during battle, but the game kept running (I could hear the action, was turning in circles just firing shots randomly hoping to get lucky). Tried tabbing out and back in, but video would not come back, just a frozen image. Eventually crashed after a couple minutes of me doing donuts firing random missile shots. Absolutely in love with what I've seen so far though. Just came to report

WTF is up with this anyway? Is there some reason for this? Looking at MOST of the "2v2" or "3v3" maps, they are CLEARLY designed for each team to be together in certain areas because they are mirrored maps with designated choke points. These maps are basically broken if your start placement is random. What is going on with this issue?
If you don't have an Internet connection on your gaming rig for some reason, it's very easy to update a copy of Sins on an Internet-connected PC, archive that, and then burn it to disc. You can then use Impulse offline to restore the updated archive on your other system.
You know this type of process to patch a game is just as ridiculous as it sounds, don't pretend that this is somehow an acceptable process to have to go through for a patch. That being said, this p

The simple answer to your question is because it's incredibly inefficient and slow. The main point here is that you can do whatever you like against the AI because it sucks so bad. Yes, there is no reason NOT to do X strategy or Y strategy or Z strategy in a single player game where you are just doing said strategy to amuse yourself. Try any of this "super build up" stuff against a human and the game will be over in 10 minutes.

I've wondered that myself. I can't say for sure whether I've ever seen a point scored in it or not, but it certainly does not seem to have any correlation to the exploration upgrade to planets.

Ships jump from star to star exactly like they do planet to planet via phase lanes. You can pretend there is a phase lane connecting all stars to each other if you like, they're just not visible. In other words, if the star you are jumping to is "up" from the star you are at, your ships must move the "top" of the star gravity well before jumping, just like if they were jumping to a planet in that direction. Wormholes go between two spots in the star system itself. Wormhole to wormhole. No s

I think a major point in being missed here. First, one minor one is the amount to research capital ship crew points. It's not cheap and you don't get many of them. You're completely ignoring the cost of those upgrades. More importantly, the fact that the caps are the backbone of your combat fleets is exactly WHY I don't want to use them in late game as my planet bombardment. They're far too valuable elsewhere to waste sitting in a conquered sector for 10 minutes killing off the plan

Just so I'm clear here (I've only played a couple small LAN games so far and we're still learning the tech trees and such), but there are no options of player placement in MP besides random? So those "3v3" maps and such don't actually put a whole team to one side, etc?

Note that technically they are allowing you to install it on two computers because YOU use two computers, not so your friend can play with you at the same time. That being said, I think getting your friend to sit down and try the game with you to see if they like it is exactly the kind of sales-producing sharing that DRM prevents and the music/software industries don't want to admit helps their sales more than harms them. The hardcore pirates that will not pay for your game no

Just wanted to chime in for the first time, as this primary topic is the one that has me playing this game in the first place. I'm terrible at RTS games...just not quick enough at managing the stuff I guess. It's not twitch reactions that get me, because I can handle that in FPS and action games. However, my friends and I were big fans of the old MOO games and we've been dying to play a multiplayer MOO since the first one. Only problem was, those games were never realisticall
