I must commend Annekynn on his patience and temperament. So many of you are outright insulting him (though you'd be unlikely to do so in person, oh so brave behind the screen) and not even bothering to look at his examples or read his patient replies. Sickening.

What is the point of these posts? To say something is dying implies that it will eventually die. PC gaming won't (at least not in our life-times). End of.

I too love my 64 bit system and I've had no issues. Bear in mind that more and more games / programs will be tailored for it in the future. For right now, as others have said, you'll not really see a big improvement in speed. As for your data, why oh WHY would you have it on the same partition as your games and programs? If you do upgrade then make sure you partition! My computer has the following partitions: C - OS and programs D - Data<

For one, it ISN'T difficult because ALL of your game related data is in the same place and you're free to point it wherever the hell you like. For another and more importantly, you seem to be missing the huge advantage of this. If your gaming drive / partition gets hosed or for some reason you reinstall your game you will still have your profiles and saves safe and sound in your application data folder.
Personally I don't care about a campaign in 4X game, not only because they usually don't need one, but also because I rarely see one that is done in a way that I can agree with.4X games tend to have deep and extensive gameplay, and unless it's done dynamically I want no part of it. For example, I own Dread Lord and Dark Avatar, played and enjoyed them throughly but do you know how many campaign missions I played? ONE, since after finishing the first state and the second one is loaded, I s
The topic was why must GAMES be installed on C:, Not Impulse, and its installed on C: because C: Is usally the system section, Impulse is integrated in the system, not just a program laying around.
Nobody has mentioned where or why Impulse is installed so why you're pointing this out to us is beyond me. ------------------ ddade, If you're using Vista you can move all of your system save paths (including games) to the drive of your choice (I have
Just a newbie and starting with small maps, 1v1, but consistently getting over run by pirates. Whenever I seem to have them wiped out, fleets keep appearing that are significantly larger than previous fleet. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
I'm fairly new also but I believe I can answer this one. The more reward out on you, the more Pirate Ships will be sent to collect it. So bear this in mind if and when you are in a bidding war with rivals. It is actually o
I was really expecting nothing but so-called flaming and back-lash.Well, since you weren't pointing fingers at anyone specific, nobody's likely to jump to the defense of their own idiocy. At least, I'd certainly hope not...
*grins* Very good point. Cheers.

I must say that you've all restored some of my faith in humanity. :) I was really expecting nothing but so-called flaming and back-lash. It is heartening to see I'm not the only one who cares about the degradation of the English language. Oh and I am British by the way so it is my duty! ;) Cheers.

I seem to see this all over gaming forums and I've no idea why. Lose = to come to be without something Loose = to free or unbind something So please, stop following this bad habit and remember you're losing your empire, not loosening it up. :P Cheers.
You technically can pick and choose the races... but you have to go in the mod folder and delete a file that links the game whatever race you don't want. If you want the new races, but only want some on at a time, you can simply relocate the racefile and move it back later when you want other races back.Personally, I think it's a cool idea to have Star Control, Star Wars, and Star Trek all fighting eachother. It's like the scifi nerd in me is having a threesome [

Your fleet is too big and they can't get enough room to jump together. Right click the icon to let them jump separately and you should be fine. Cheers.

One's personal preference for NOT having a campaign should not be your reason for putting the idea down. Successful games offer more options to players rather than less. If this was an option you wouldn't be forced to use it. I, for one, love campaigns / stories and actually had forgotten about the review I read where it pointed out the lack thereof in SINS before I bought it. heh. Cheers.

Since I'm new to the game I've not tried any mods yet although reading through the latest patch notes I saw someone asking for the ability to use multiple mods. I assume that this is why a compilation has been made. My question then is does this mean we have to have ALL of the compilations components active at once or do we get to pick and choose (I'm at work right now so can't even test). If it is all or nothing wouldn't this become cumbersome and even downright odd if we've got Mast

Well I'm done with this thread at about page six. Too many whiners about the digital distribution. It is the year 2008. I find it very hard to believe that people are still gaming on PCs which are not connected to the internet. Even if they are I will not believe they can't do as suggested to get the patch burned (that doesn't have to be a library, you must surely know someone who isn't in the stone ages and does have internet access). Also if you still have Win2k on your machine th
No one has mentioned anything about tradeing; that is one of the most primary things this game is missing. Why can't we trade ships to our allies or neutral party's for money or metals or crystal? etc etc. Same thing goes for planets. The other thing is Enemies are constantly telling us what they want or they will destroy us how come we can't do the same thing to them.I want to tell them things like; I want planet X and 50000 crystal or I'm going to turn your race into vapor. Or threaten um
