Anyway I played this game again today after my initial disappointment, taking the advice of psychoak and I was surprised to find that it is quite a different game. It still strikes me as too fast paced to be considered as anything other than an RTS, and I still feel somewhat conned by reviewers for saying it was more than an RTS, but the depth that
If you choose to play a random huge with 10 players, you will be scouting just to keep track of who's where, find your biggest threats. You will engage in the diplomacy system to keep from being butchered, you will use culture to keep from being wiped out by it, you will research more than a few techs, just to stay in the game, and you will not build a few ships and throw them at the enemy. You will most definitely not build a "few" buildings and then ignore a planet. You'll have full
This kind of argument is how you guys sold me the game, and this kind of argument is why I was crushingly disappointed when I played it. I'm sorry Brad, but this game does not combine "4X depth" with anything.
I wish I'd read your posts before I wasted my money on this game. I think even 3X is a bit strong, X would have done fine. eXterminate.
Hey guys, I have to say I wish I'd waited a little while for you guys who told me to get Galactic Civilizations 2 instead. I was all caught up in the hype and bought it after very little encouragement. I can honestly say I'm disappointed with the game so far, I just can't get into it. The lack of campaign mode hurts a LOT more than I was expecting, combat feels bland and lacking in strategy; strength in numbers and nothing else works. This could all be because I don't get the g

I think your view of RTS is -really- skewed. There's a fair bit more strategy in most RTSes than you're willing to admit.
I totally agree with you Demonic Spoon and it most likely is MY fault that I don't have the quick thinking skills to employ the strategy. It doesn't help change the fact that I just don
Sorceresss did you just say Disciples!? That's sealed it for me, Stardock can have my money now, I submit.
Will there be any? I ask because I'm from the UK and I'm itching to play this game but we don't even have a release date yet! If I buy this online from Stardock right now, when my friend in the UK gets his copy from the local retailers will we be able to play together?
Hey guys, I love turn-based strategy but I hate real-time strategy. I think that micromanaging at a leisurely pace is great and strategy-free twitch gaming with "select all your units and click on something till it's dead" is the worst. For example, the sort of similar (I think anyway, I haven't played Sins yet) games I love are Master of Orion and the sort that I hate are Star Wars: Empire at War. I'd also only play this game for the single player as my connection isn't good enough for m
