Hour and a half or so, first one is always the longest and the Seeker has an above average number of abilities, but that's offset by the relatively few tactics and strategies I have listed for it. Times that by forty-five and it's not an unreasonable amount of time to spend on a task. Obsessive-compulsive tendencies and sleep problems can lead to some strange projects. I was thinking that on the images too, just the first image given, resized to something reasonable (200x300 o

All the pictures are too much, you think? Or just the giant ones at the bottom? I have sick, unhealthy love affair with pictures, which skews my views on things. I think at least one picture of the unit (maybe just a link to it, though, to avoid being too intrusive) would be fine. At least I think one picture is nice, I know when I'm first getting into a game (and even for a while after) I don't recognize all of the units by name and need some kind of image of them to place them. I

Wow, thanks for the offer. Statistics and all are interesting, but I like to know what things look like and how they're most effectively used. So I've been toying with the idea of getting all the units down, what they can do and how they can be most effectively employed, supported by images. I've still been playing for a format that works, making it on the forum here sounds like it could complicate matters (although solve the trouble of where to host it). I'm not sure how i

How...strange. The Progenitor doesn't have to be in the well that the ship died in, I just tested this out because I was under the impression that both ships had to be close to the Progenitor and the ability had to be triggered right before the death of a capital (making it near useless in my mind). I loaded up a game where I had a lot of veteran capitals, moved my Mothership to my homeworld, then skuttled one of the capitals who was in the adjacent one. Then built a new cap

What's so crazy, in my opinion about Returning Armada, is that if you're up against it, you lose every battle you fight. Not because you literally lose the fight, and if you have a strong well balanced fleet, you can often absorb an entire Returning Armada attack and survive. But the bottom line is that all of the losses you inflict upon your enemy will be replaced at no cost (often as soon as they're destroyed since most Vasari go right up to the cap with the gates on Autocast). Sins of a Solar Empire has been out a while now (almost two months) and I was wondering, at present, are there any detailed guides out there to the units as well as basic tactics and strategies of the single and multiplayer aspects of the game? I know there are several Wiki based websites out there that do an admirable job of covering the statistics of units, as well as giving the descriptions that the manuel presents, but are there any more indepth guides out there (preferably ones with

I don't think it's overpowered mostly because it relies on two ships (sometimes three) and if one of them is either destroyed (focus fire kills capitals fast by the time you have Level 6 ships, often) or simply disabled (which a human will do) the entire party comes to a halt. Such reliance on so few ships can be a major disadvantage, an enemy with a ton of LRMs or Heavy Cruisers and a capital won't cry a river if you kill some of them or even their capital, but your loss of just of t

I wonder about the circumstances of Erress1108's findings. I've had wonderful, sometimes absurd results with this combination, it's one of the reasons I often pick a Radiance instead of a Progenitor as my opening Capital, since the quicker that Radiance builds up to Level 6, the better. Level 3 Malice can come at level 5 for the ship, but you need that Level 6 for Cleansing Brilliance, after all. The tactic I use, which has worked since 1.01 and worked as of two days ago, is this. En

From my experience you can usually tell if a player might need guidance just by watching their opening (when you yourself too have little to do, between the start and taking your first Asteroid there really is fairly little to keep busy with). If you see something that is off, like they haven't made their Capital Ship Factory in fairly short order to get that ship out, or haven't yet built a scout or two to explore, you're probably going to have to help. Most inexperienced players ar
advent have caps that:a bounce your own damage back at you potentially at over 100%?b cause you to take damage to all your ships if one of them takes damage?does this seem crazy powerful to anyone else?
Advent do have some of the strongest Capital Ship abilities (Malice being one of the best) but they're also more reliant on their special abilities than the others to bolster their fleet's survivability. Advent's strong suit aren't their straight up strength, but the

If you're not in cinematic mode (as your parenthetical notes suggest) then check under Options, then User Interface. The left column has Show Info Cards, Show Gravity Well, Show Phase Lines, all of that stuff. If all the boxes aren't green, they won't be showing up (there is also the Cinematic Mode toggle in there as well, so you can be sure it's off). If that doesn't work, I don't know what to suggest.

Ok, I'll bite (bad pun), since I was disappointed by the lack of subtitles in the intro as well (not because of hearing issues though, I just enjoy reading). But at least all he major events all ave cues in writing (and although they come by fast, can be brought up by clicking on the various cards). Just in case you were wondering what the intro said though, I wrote it down, and took screencaps of the corresponding visuals for good measure. I tried just putting in the text at the bottom of th

I used just the dark black background for my images so the Guardian could be seen best, but that also makes it difficult to see the "orb". But here are three more screenshots with differing backgrounds (check out the last two, in particular). It does propagate on units, I can say that with absolute certainty (it's by far my favorite Advent ability combination). I was lucky enough to have two Radiance to level 6 and caught an absurd number of ships in it, just melted all of the Frigates in the fleet. How I use it in battles is, I use Malice on a unit (usually a Capital, but whatever) then use the Cleansing Brilliance on the strongest ship I can find (always a Capital). Using Cleansing Brilliance on anything less will gen

You ever start a reply and balloons into something much longer than intended? This is one of those... No doubt that's the Advent Iconus Guardian you're watching. This is what the little buggers look like.
