The pirates are just alot stonger than they were in the previous versions. You have to be careful when playing larger maps w/bounties. The fleets can get pretty huge. I'm not knocking it though. I like them more powerful.

I'm afraid that is just the nature of Real Time Strategy. It happens in real time. And yes you are crazy. Seek therapy before it is too late. You don't want to end up like Dirty Sanchezz. -Ghost

Application Layer Gateway Service, Automatic Updates, Background Intelligent Transfer Service, Cryptographic Services, COM+Event System, and on and on. About 28 different background apps. You have control of which it turns off and leaves on. It also has a nifty Game Defrag system. It is fairly useful especially considering that it is free. The same company makes another program called Advanced System Care. Also handy. -Ghost

You might try Gamebooster. You can DL it at Majorgeeks.com. It helps somewhat by shutting down non essential apps. If you want to hold a universe that large without raising the fleet cap you might try playing as Advent. Build a few Raptures and use Domination. The upside of this is you don't have to research any Fleet/Frigate Logistics and can keep all that income for yourself.(You can convert Pirates and have a Pirate Armada. Arrrrr. They don't talk much unfortunately.) <p

Something I found that has sped up the game for me considerably is an App called Game Booster. It is put out by the same people who did Advanced System Care. Game Booster shuts down any programs that will lag you with the click of a button. You can find it at MajorGeeks.com. A quick download and really simple interface. Check it out. -Ghost

Joking? I beg your pardon but, "No sir." Is my answer to that . A typo in a tech tree item is a sign of sloppy workmanship on the part of the entire Ironclad crew. As I stated in my previous post, I fully understand the hardships of making a game. It is a hard life for a geek. I find myself pondering many questions. Do they not employ editors? Have they perhaps bought a keyboard with no C key and forced the new guy to use it? Have they enslaved an Intern&nbs

Look Ironcladies I can deal with alot of things. Mini-dumps, crashes, bugs, slow downs etc. Many problems only Real World usage can reveal. I understand that. However, I just came across a problem that is inexcusable. A TYPO..yes you read it correctly. There is a typo in your description of the Meson Bolt Cannon in the Upgrade Tree. Apparently it gives the Gauss Platforms "a long range armor PIERING secondary attack. What does it do build a pier on the side o

I haven't started playing yet but I just wanted to tell you what a great utility I think Impulse is. It is soooo much better than alot of games ,COD for instance, where I have to go to a third party for my updates. Both downloads and installs in less than one minute. Awesome. Now lemme go play with my new toys. I also wanted to say that I appreciate the Devs putting this out so close to the new release. I'm sure there was alot of overtime put in. And you poor

Depending on the number of defenses the home planet has, I have had good luck with this strategy. I use my main force to attack a nearby colony. When the enemy comes to defend the colony I dispatch 6 or so seige ships, with an equal number of fighter transports for cover, to destroy the homeworld. Another question is whether you are simply trying to destroy the homeworld or to conquer it. Destroying is easy and busies the AI trying to reclaim it. <

Just one other thing I want to mention about using alot of Raptures w/Domination. I stop my Fleet logistic research at the max for Capital ships and my Fleet Upkeep at 47% (I forget what level that is exactly) This gives me an extra income of 33% which means I can Upgrade and build-up planets at an accelerated pace and still build past the fleet cap. Really the best strategy depends on the way you like to play the game. If possible I would love to have a never ending game wi

I agree with Mr_Fernandes, jump to the farthest star system as fast as you can and fortify. Also, you can never have too many trade ports, economy is the key in the long run. I also play as the Advent, usually in 13 star systems w/9 opponents on hard. This strategy has worked very well for me but it isn't for the impatient, you have to be willing to hang in there for the long haul. Another strategy I use is to make my Capital ships Rapture heavy, usually 2/3rds or more. Once you get Dominatio

Advent Rapture Battle Cruiser. Get it up to level 6, get Domination and you can forget all about fleet size caps. I have been able to build mixed fleets of Advent, Vasari, TEC and Pirates up to almost -6000 fleet size. Which is ,in relative terms, 4 times the usual cap of 2000 because I end up with a fleet strength ot 8000. The only reason I don't make them bigger is because the game starts lagging horribly. Try it sometime it is fun. It works best if you do a cus

I'll tell you how I deal with pirate bases. I play as the Advent, max out my capital ships at 16, all Rapture Battle Cruisers. When they reach level 6 and have Domination I jump into the pirate base and dominate/convert 16 pirate vessels then jump out with them. I have been able to build some fairly massive pirate fleets in this way. While it is true that the ships are relativley weak if you have enough of them the can be great at defending your planets while you are off conquering. A

I have brought this up in another post but I think it deserves a post of it's own. I always play as the Advent (single player) and all my ships have some catchphrase like " Show no mercy" etc. All the ships I use Domination on also have catchphrases. TEC "I'll do my best" Vasari "A cunning plan" But the Pirates have nothing. It is like asking a teen how school was today, only worse. I don't even get "Ok" or "Hmm" So what I am asking of ever
