Okay, I got it working. For some reason I need to start the game under vanilla SoaSE then go into entrenchment.

This game usually gets over 100 fps. Only time it goes into the 15-20 range is when I have all everything maxed out and there are thousands of ships on the screen.

After messing around with this some more, it seems to not work in Entrechment. Anyone out there please make this work for entrenchment as I love the variety of music this mod provides.

I think the suggestion that LF should continously fire while in persuit is the best one. This would eliminate the need to slow carriers down or even increase LF's speed and damage to because LF's DPS will go up dramatically vs. carriers while maintaining balance within the entire game. Basically it will make it slightly easier to counter carriers, but you still have to know how to properly counter.

lol, this is pathetic, so the people who claim that carriers are OP are now saying that it's no use that an experienced player can beat a less experienced player that spams carriers... Well the same is true if a more experienced players spams carriers. Simply put, carriers are not OP and the less experienced players need to shut up and and learn how to counter better. I have a Quadcore Q6600 @ 3.0ghz, 2 gigs of ram, an 8800GT and a WD 250gig HD. The game runs perfectly, even when there are several hundred units on the screen. All settings are maxed at 1280x1024 w/ 4xAA. So in short, yes it is your computer and not the game.

Do you realize how slow they back up and strafe sideways? That tactic wont work, it's simply not fast enough to save their ass from getting blown up if they weren't effected by repulsion. And why are you wasting valuable micro time clicking repeatedly next to your cap ship?

Innociv, if there are that many units focus firing a cap (as I showed in my example), retreating it isn't going to do much but maybe delay it's death by a few seconds. Now, if there are multiple caps then it's a different story. Obviously I read my own posts, I wrote them. What kind of idiotic question is that?

Interesting results from those tests Haeso and Drexion. So does that mean that it's quite possibly more balanced than what was thought? And perhaps it just requires better micro on the TEC player part?. Anyway, time to watch those replays of Innociv vs. Haeso. =)

If caps are immune to repulsion then that actually makes guardians even more powerful, because you can position them in a way to keep the enemy fleet away from their own caps while you focus fire and tear them to pieces. For example: Fleet "A" has a Radiance 40 illums, 5 guardians and 15 Destras Fleet "B" has a Kol, 50 Javs, 4 Hoshikos and 20 Kodiaks Fleet "A" closes in on Fleet "B" with everything, with the guardians in the middle of the fleet. Innociv and HuntingX both like dick waving contests, those guys definitely enjoy talking the most shit and show the worst sportsmanship of anyone here. Haeso makes a good point, it's extremely difficult to micro LRMs vs. Illums, mainly because of this pesky side-beams. They pretty much destroy any maneuver to try to get behind them to get a better firing position. You pretty much micro Illums the same way you would micro flaks to destroy LRM. Just charge them right into the middle of the LRM blob and watch them rip the LRMs to pieces. It seems GalCiv may cater to your casual gaming style a little more. Sins would do so also, but only in single player. You may find multiplayer to be extremely frustrating if you just want a casual gaming experience.

I haven't really tested the fighters vs. guardians thing... so it might be viable, actually if some of you watch some of the replays of these "elite" players, you'll see that they dont ever touch any of the carriers so they never use strikecraft at all. Most of the time it's a race to see who can: Small maps 1. Embargo first 2. Rush with LRM/Illums Medium Maps 3. Rush to HC 4. Steps 2 and 3 + support Large maps: 5. RA or Novalith. Never onc

I love repulsion, but I have to agree that being able to throw cap ships around is kind of silly. It's also pretty silly that you can sit there and click it on and off over and over again and really make things messy and drag things on for your opponent. Decreasing the range of which repulsion works to put them in range of LRM would make guardians worthless, especially to LRM spam with decent micro they wouldn't stand a chance and would never be useful. I say just limit how many times
