Starting play - start with original or entrenchment? in Sins of a Solar Empire Sins Forums

I picked up Sins awhile ago but never got around to playing it. I will probably be playing single player most of the time. Should I play the original first and later move on to Entrenchment or should I start with Entrenchment from the beginning? It's not clear to me if the Entrenchment enhancements encompass the entire game or if the add-on just introduces new maps that have the additional features. Thanks
