I read elsewhere that the max number of weapons each unit can have was increased to five in Rebellion. So I tried adding a flak weapon to a TEC Starbase (I copied the Titan flak entry) and Missiles to the TEC Battleship (I copied the Marza Missiles). I also remembered to update the NumWeapons entry. Nothing happened in the game though. It didn't cause any crashes, but the additional weapons didn't fire/display either. The mouseover for the Starbase/Battleship did s
Hey Harpo, are you going to release the reference files for the Rebellion 1.82 beta, or are you going to wait until 1.82 is released proper?
Ooh that's a handy program, although it took me some time to figure out where it was located on my computer or that I had to copy over my mod. It turns out the problem was in the file afterall. My research prerequisite was set as "CAPITALSHIP_MANEUVERINGTHRUSTERS" but it should've been "RESEARCHSUBJECT_CAPITALSHIP_MANEUVERINGTHRUSTERS". [e digicons][/e]
No, I didn't convert them myself, but I did download the 1.5 reference files yesterday from Harpo's post Here. So as far as I know, i've got the latest available version of the files. I have also already given it a prerequisite tech. Since it takes changes to several files to add in a tech, I don't actually know which file is causing the problem. Here'
Hi all, i'm encountering a crash that I can't figure out. I've got Sins Rebellion 1.5 with the Forbidden Worlds DLC. I'm trying to give the TEC a new tech that gives their ships a speed boost. It's always annoyed me that they can increase their turn rate but not their speed. This is the first time i've added a tech to the game, and trust me when I say it took a good deal of trial and error to get even this far. I've basically just copied the SpeedBo
Why not just edit the attack range of the Starbase weapons so that they can cover an entire gravity well? I imagine this would be a simpler and less game-changing way to do it - if i'm interpreting the question you're asking in your post correctly. The StarBase~.entity (where ~ is the race you want to mod, ie StarBasePsi.entity) file is the file you're looking for to do this. It's in the GameInfo folder. But you'll need to download the reference files for your v
I've got a My Games folder, but there is no Ironclad Games folder there. The only folders I have there are Civilization 4 folders. Should I create one? The closest thing I've got to what you describe is located at C:\Users\Lloyd\AppData\Local\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire - but there's no Rebellion folder there either. There are three mod folders there though. Mods-Diplomacy v1.34 (Which only contains one file, EnabledMods.txt), Mods-Entrenchment v1.053 (
I've just downloaded the Rebellion reference files that Harpo kindly created and uploaded, but I can't find where to put them. I know how to make small text mods for the other expansions, but I can't find any reference to where the Rebellion files are located on my computer. It's like the game isn't actually installed. I play it through Steam if that makes a difference. All that I can find are a few folders with icons, logs, or uninstallers. But no Rebellion g
Maybe i'm being dumb, but where do you put these files for Rebellion? I know how to mod the other expansions, but I can't find any reference to where the Rebellion files are located on my computer. It's like the game isn't actually installed. I play it through Steam if that makes a difference. All that I can find are a few folders with icons, logs, or uninstallers. But no Rebellion game files.
Success! It seems that a significant number of files were missing. I didn't have the .settings, bin, Galaxy, Particle, PipelineEffect, src, String, TextureAnimations, or Window folders. I also didn't have the .classpath or .project files. ...However I now have a new problem. I can no longer close the game! Several of the buttons on the game menu have now disappeared - Download Updates, Get Entrenchment, Get Diplomacy, and Quit. So I can only close the game via Ctrl Alt Del now
I've already tried fixing that particular issue, Myfist. The download for the files GoaFan linked to is nearly complete so i'll try those files.
Ok, i've loaded up the .exe. A Window popped up during game load. I have no idea what it means. "Assert @ C:\Projects\P4\SinsOG\Release\CodeSource\GS/Window/Screens/MainMenuScreen.cpp(19) false" Otherwise the game loaded as normal, but there's still no mod. Anyone have any other ideas why my mod isn't working? I can't believe it's soo difficult just to get some text files to work. *Edit - thanks Goafan, i'm downloading the
Ok...but what do I actually do with it? That guide tells you how to use it, but not what you actually do with the .exe file. Am I supposed to put it somewhere? Load it up? And will it explain why my mod isn't working?
Nope, that still hasn't helped, Carbon. I deleted all the mod files and started afresh. Your program extracted the files fine, so I modded them. The game is still using the defaults though. Psychoak, I have no idea what to do with the dev exe. And since it's from Forge Tools 3, wouldn't it be out of date like the other files?
Thanks for that, it's converting the files for me now. *crosses fingers*.
I have to put the files in the ReferenceData folder. Without it, the game simply crashes during load after the opening cinematic (Note that the game is set to load the mod on startup; turning this option off and manually loading my mod also results in a crash, so the files need to be in the ReferenceData folder)
Hey everyone, i've recently started playing Sins again and I'm having a go at making my own mod like I used to. All i've done is edit a few of the .entity files in Notepad to change some ship stats, costs, techs etc. I'm not adding or removing anything, merely editing the stats. I've done this in the past and it all worked fine. ...Except my mods have no effect ingame. No matter what I do, the game seems to be using the default files. I've even got my mod set u
I shut all of the anti-aliasing options off, and the graphics are fine now. No more triangles! Thanks for your help, shadow, +1 Karma for you! [e digicons]:D[/e]
I cut all of the options off the side of the pic so the image would fit on the forums lol. Yes I have the Nvidia Geforce GTX 480, and I already have the latest drivers. I'll look into the anti-aliasing though and report back. Thanks for the tip.
Hi everyone, i've just bought a shiny new Windows 7 computer with a GTX 480 graphics card. I've just loaded up my copy of Sins, but the planets and ships are partially see-through and look like they're made up of triangles. Does anyone know how to fix it? I've only got the original Sins (With all patches installed) and i've got the latest drivers installed already and I tried changing the graphics settings in the game. It didn't work. Any help would be appreciated. <im
I managed to get around my problem by just taking the GameInfo reference files from the Forgetools download. It's wierd how taking the other files just causes my game to freeze though. I know you mentioned doing this above Annatar11, but I only just read your post, so I had to figure it out for myself. *ahem* I know how to mod the game files already, Zanyth0x42. In fact, I instructed someone else on how to mod their files in another thread here , a
Ok, it worked - sort of - when I put the path in quote marks, but I don't understand what I do from there on. The method you described converts individual files, which would be just as tedious as the other program you mentioned. Isn't there a simple way to convert ALL of the files from the gobbledygook?
Thanks for making this program, Zanyth0x42, coz I absolutely hate using dos. Is there a way to convert ALL of the the files in your GameInfo folder though? It'll take forever if I have to do each one manually like this...and why hasn't this thread been stickied so it's easier to find?
Euch I HATE dos. I just tried to do what you told me, but it keeps coming up with an error message. I entered the location of the program, which was C:\Program Files\Stardock Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\Forge Tools\ForgeTools1.1\ConvertData\ConvertData.exe, but it just keeps saying 'C:\Program' is not recognised as an internal or external command, operable program, or batch file'. Any idea what this means? I tried to use that other program that you mentioned as well, but
