Well, I've had to redownload this game since then, but it's been manageable. The odd thing was that I'm pretty good at finding, if not removing, viruses, but I couldn't find a hint of a virus. My HJT log hasn't even changed since I got this computer. But anyway, thanks for the response; I'll assume it's a virus if it starts getting worse.

Sweet. It seems like it just started a day or two ago, and was fine before. But maybe I'm imagining it. Anyway, if it's getting fixed, I guess it doesn't matter. Thanks for answering, and for caring enough to test it.
1.05. Is it a known issue?
The Skiranta or whatever it's called exactly. This is really starting to piss me off; this thing casts the hull restore ability constantly. I mean, literally, as soon as the cooldown is finished, it casts it again, when there isn't a single damaged ship in my entire armada, on any planet. It just throws away all it's antimatter while it's sitting there doing nothing. I really don't want to turn off autocast; the whole reason I love this game is because I don't have to micromanage so much. Any
But the one who "surrendered" continued pumping out ships and fighting for about 15 minutes. Not only that, but if he surrendered when the other 4 were dead, shouldn't that have ended the map? Not trying to be argumentative, I'm just confused. Thanks for posting.
I see. Thanks much.
Ignoring that...colorful...response there... patkhoo, you didn't necessarily contradict the original idea; certainly, if you use nukes, you deal with the consequences, but that doesn't mean a commander couldn't decide not to use nukes in a situation, even if he has the ability to do so. I think being able to turn it on and off for when you want it is fair.
Nope, had no idea how that worked. I don't do multiplayer, so I guess the reason I still never seem to kill a ship with shields left is because the computer isn't taking full advantage of Advent strengths. Someone else asked on a different topic a few days ago, and now I'm wondering too; what's the Advent way of minimizing this disadvantage? Tons of Subjugators? Oh, and thank you for the help.
I've been playing Vasari alot recently, and I've had the luxury to really watch the battles up close, and I have a question; what the hell is the point of phase missles "sometimes" going through shields? I've yet to see a single ship killed before it's shields were drained. Granted, I have a balanced fleet, so perhaps if one spams ships that use missles, AND has subverters backing them up, AND are fighting Advent, it would happen, but so far, the only difference is that instead of knocking ou
Yeah, something like that needs to be done. Or simply make it something we can turn off.
Ambro, currently only patch 1.05 is out, and 1.1 is in beta, so you don't have 1.3 unless you're from the future (does the economy get better?)
One more point. When the game first came out, I balanced it, created a mod, and published a detailed list of suggested improvements here: http://letosilvermane.googlepages.com/home . This was a lot of hard work over several weekends (although not five months). So I feel I've done my share to contribute to the community. Now, I'm looking forward
I saw my opponent get chased out by my strike craft; the inhibitor made him impatient, I guess, so he just flew right on out.
Hope this is the right board for this, but does anyone have a suggestion as to how to get this achievement? I simply seem to never be on a map that has all the artifacts. Even the huge, multi random map, when I owned every planet but one, didn't yield all of them.
Right, I get that, but that doesn't seem that awesome except when you do combine it with a large fleet battle or simply culture wars. Maybe I expected more than I should have.
I'm a little confused about something on this screen. I thought that when a player gets the little bullet hole through his picture, that meant he's been defeated. But I just finished a 5v5 game where the only player WITH the bullet hole was the final opponent I was fighting; the other 4 had been completely wiped out but you couldn't tell that from the screen. The only reason I really care is because of pirates; you can't put bounty on these players, so I ended up eating the pirate attacks nea
Well, I'm not sure what to do with the Deliverance Engine. The only time I found it useful was on a large map where my opponents were beaten back to collectively shared, heavily defended corner and cultur-ing their planets to death helped sabotage their economy and let me win by attrition. Otherwise, outside of the useful but hardly-worth-it attack boost, I don't see what it's for.
I lean towards single stars, where I can work hard at surrounding my opponents and taking them down.
I don't fully understand the problem; you jumped to another system and got ganked? Are you playing the normal Aerolian Sector or the one you can download that's fixed so all players start together? If it's the latter, you probably just jumped right into their home sector. Otherwise, the AI must have decided to kill you because your fleets was simply insufficient. They were getting rid of the weaker opponent early is all.
I think I'm getting an error that hasn't been mentioned yet (or I misunderstood it when someone else mentioned it); Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library Runtime Error! A file address is here; I can only read the beginning, so I'm not sure of exactly what file it's mentioning. R6002 -floating point not loaded This pops up as soon as I try to run the game (from anywhere). Nothing like compatability mode or Run as Administrator or anything else matters. Th
Thanks then. I'm going to get another copy from Gamestop first, because I just like having the retail disk, but if I still can't read it, I'll do this instead.
I still wouldn't know what the approriate files are or anything. I will, however, keep that in mind and maybe ask around on a different board, if the other user's idea nets me nothing substantial. Thanks everyone.
Cool. Last question, I think; how does it know how many "working copies" I have?
I don't know if that's possible, or how to do it, because I only barely know what that means, unfortunately. I'm a geek in non-tech issues, which always comes back to bite me.
Thanks everyone. Yeah, I managed to download it, but it still bugs me that I can't use the CD. As long as I can access my account, can I download this game as often as I want? I'm planning on buying a new PC in a few months, so if I NEED the disk, I want to find a solution, but if the disk is completely unnecessary with the code, than I will just ignore it. Oh, and other disks work fine, yes.
