Why "watch out for maps with more stars than opponents"? I like exploring and developing in peace, so made a map with ten stars, 4 opponents (in other systems). But even then I found enemy ships of some other factions in my home system. I specified no more than 4 planets per system, but found 9 " " " ". I think I came up against the software limitations, it wants battles.
