does the AI pick research items completely at random? I would think you could fake a strategy out of them by supplying lists of combos (such as getting phase missile upgrades + assailants, or shield upgrades + guardians + shield restore) that it randomly picks from. Then when it has some spare cash and has finished achieving all the previously selected combos, do a fleet expansion + pick another set of combos.

right, but you try something and it's hours before you can try again. isn't there a better way? I'd ask for specifics, but other than the standards, it seems no one wants to give up their tricks (though, there have been some good ones here). I can understand that in a MP environment, so I'm asking if anyone has some good methods for nailing down their own tricks. That can't reveal your secrets. :)
in regards to the OP what do people do to create/practice Micro tactics and such? I would imagine multiplayer is not the most conducive format for this.
yeah, I dont know where those places are. I don't really care about this thing you call 'music' either... :p
ok, I obviously dont know all the details of this story, but I do have to point out that if he got in trouble for quoting a singer from the concert he was in.... did they arrest Pink as well? how is it that the singer is allowed to say things he can't? Now that I know he quoted a song lyric, I'm even more against this. It sounds like ignorance on the part of the security people. However, your more recent post suggests this was outside the US. If that's the case, th
One problem I have noticed for a while now is if there is one mobile starbase orbiting a grav well that allows more than one starbase you still cannot jump another starbase to the same well. You get the error "there is already a starbase at this planet". Pretty annoying for me as the mod I'm working on uses mobile starbases as capital ships. The starbase limit should determine
The other day I decided to play Vasari for a change and found corvettes acting weird in the empire tree when I had an Orkulus present. it may be the ordering of the orkulus on the tree, I'm not sure Corvettes normally appear on the empire tree along with all the frigates, cruisers, and capital ships in the system. This is all in one grouping with 1 icon. you can click this icon to select all combat ships in the system. What I observed was capital ships, cruisers and frigat
What was nerfed exactly?
Their nerfs :p
Here's my opinion on this, and I do want to say up front that at this stage if everything in the OP turns out to be true, an arrest has to happen. First, going solely off the information provided, we don't know that he did that. I could much more easily see someone swiping someone's phone and sending tweets like that as a prank rather than going all the way there and tweeting pranks. Why even go if that's what you want to do? Also could have been high on something and
I'm not a multiplayer, so you can ignore this at your leisure, but I mostly play advent and then since everyone is always talking about vasari I played a game as them yesterday and could not believe how much easier it was. I did run into money problems, and did use an orky (ended up not being entirely necessary. I got the research so that I had the option then later decided may as well use it). If you're wondering about what I did about the money issue, I guess it can be best
Correction: the enemy throws balloons with a mixture of deadly diseases and acid in your face. Eggs in the face doesn't actually hurt that bad and certainly won't kill you.
Look, all ships in the game move the same... they act slightly different though when they have different stats. The same goes for firing weapons. Now, before I get into the rest, I will say that there is a well known issue with ships turning (I believe that was mentioned), that may be what you are thinking of. All 3 light frigates have the exact same speed, acceleration and firing range. However, some of this may get messed with if you're running mods.
Since Ironclad is busy with Sins of a Dark Age.
We can only hope Sins of a Dark Age is 64-bit and the engine easily reusable.
Well, no... I did not write Sins of a Solar Empire, and do not have the source code. The devs here claim it would take too much work to make it 64-bit and multithreaded, so my question is: is there not some other method of making a game 64-bit/multithreaded without recoding the game? The best solution is as you suggest, redo it from the ground up, but Sins cant be the only game that still has life and isn't 64-bit. This method could be used on them as well...
Well, that's partly the point... the game is only designed to run on 32 bit systems, and therefore is only able to address 3gb of ram. It is also single threaded. My proposal for games in this situation: add a second app that is 64bit and works in concert with the main app. Meanwhile, this new app runs on a second core, so it shouldn't slow down the system really. Theres a few ways I could see this working: It works like the Windows swap file, but bo
Hey, so I'm not trying to plead for Sins to get 64-bit/multithreading, but I've been thinking about things... Is it not possible to make a kind of 'helper' app that only runs on a 64-bit, multithreaded system? This apps sole job would be to manage additional assets above and beyond what the 32-bit, single threaded can do, swapping the resources into the main app as needed. This would clearly be a patchwork way to add multithreading, but it helps, an
alright, any recommended uses to make me see the light?
How about something simpler for the vasari bombers, like say that the PM upgrades don't affect bombers? That's something that is easy to implement and balance, I'd think.
So about a year ago Dominas were pretty terrible (honestly can't remember them not being terrible). Then there were a number of updates put in place that were supposed to fix them. Now, with an upcoming patch, I was wondering what everyone thought of their current state? I haven't noticed much of a difference myself, but I know I don't do MP and am therefore pre-emptively wrong :p
In a stunning change of pace, I will not ask for a damn thing... Thanks for continuing to update the game.
Alright, let me ask this: does anyone have an interesting, half-viable non-standard start?
I'm late to this party, but I was going to point out that we all live on earth, and because of gravitational effects, at least 80% of those digits of pi are wrong. However, I also like to fact check such a post, and the internet disagrees. Pi is still pi, but if you attempt to measure it, you will get some other number. Not that you could measure anywhere near that many digits anyhow. 50 digits are enough for a circle the size of the observable universe with an accurac
I think he was concerned you might be derailing the thread with questions about how sins works rather than questions about the chart itself. There are other threads that explain the mechanics. You are right about the siege frigates. Though, if I were in charge of designing interstellar space ships, siege craft would get heavy :). I'd also point out that the chart suggests that fighters, bombers, and starbases are either implied to have their own armor types or are listed inc
dude... that AWESOME MOD sounds pretty awesome... where can I get it? :)
