Warranties frequently trasnfer over, though occasionally you need to get the original proof of purchase with it and/or warranty certificate. If I but a car with three years warranty and sell it after two years there's still two years warranty on it.
As for second hand games, this is a issue for the PC world, second hand games generate no profit for the games devs or publisher.
And this is different from the rest of the world how exactly? By that reasoning alone you're saying that I should not be allowed to resell any of my things because the original manufacturer does not get a slice of the profit. That's preposterous.
How about this one: the right to transfer ownership of your licence to somebody else at a later date. No other industry gets money when I sell something I own to someone else, why should the games industry be any different? I read a book. I give it to someone else, give it to charity or even sell it on. I buy a car and the warranty service goes with it when I sell it (if it's still in the right time frame of course). I understand that technically I am buying a licence when I buy a gam
Noooooo, the RetroPunnery(tm) is spreading!!! Weirdly, the pirates can't turn the pirates off, but non-pirates can.
I would agree with that Furunculus, I tend to keep hold of my patches too so that I can re-install and re-apply then whenever I like etc. Even though other games auto-patch I always seek out an exe file for it because I just prefer it that way.
40-60 tabs? Wow, that's a lot, that's got to be pretty uncommon right? Don't most people just, like, close them when they're done? :p Anyway, I don't really get the FF3 fanboyism. Was using FF2 before, but now I'm trying out Opera 9.5 at the moment and it's really nice (though I have ff3 installed too). I know the FF addons are a big part of the pull, but I just can't be arsed to go looking for them, I have very simple browsing needs and Opera seems to cater for them just fine in the
Yeah, traditionally it's best to focus fire on the weaker units (like you did) rather than to focus on the bigger ones, but you maximised your win margin even further by canny maneuvers. Amish - yeah I didn't think of that, but still, you get my point. I agree with you about fighters too. The only really efficent way to use fighters is to have plenty of them so that they have maul the enemy one run or two. TheStarChild - maneuvering ships are important, good point. Your carrie
The counters are not quite that simple. While a scout unit has anti-light armour weaponry and the LRFs have light armour, the DPS change the story. Take Vasari: Jikara Scout (anti-light) - DPS vs light - 8.0; Assailant LRF (anti-medium) - DPS vs light - 13.0; Fighter Squadron (anti-light) - DPS vs light - 20.4; (but due to flight paths probably less than this) While the Scout is best used against things with light armour like the LRF, it is not necessarily the bes
Not so good stuff No single player story as such Matches can last a few hours No pause button
Eh? Try pressing .....the PAUSE button guys. Oh well!
Yeah, after playing the tutorials I played Vasari, and the stuck with Advent for ages because the ships looked the best. I still haven't actually played a proper game with TEC because the ships look rather naff. As for the pixels vs polys - I didn't really understand what the opening poster meant by 'pixel-wise' at first, and also what context he meant pixellated in. I was fully expecting this thread to consist of "duh, turn your screen resolution settings up" or similar. The two words
Did you even read my earlier post?
phase lanes would not be compatible as ... any phase lanes between them would be constantly moving.
Eh, anyway, whatever.
*sigh* Faster than light speed travel does not explain how you wage war against several other huge factions and win in a matter of hours. Regardless, twice the speed of light is not that fast in terms of galactic travel. The nearest star to our star is 4.3 light YEARS away (that's 37668 hours in case you were wondering), other stars are similarly displaced (discounting binary systems). They are not 10 light-seconds or so apart. 37668 hours = 135,604,800 seconds. Let's say in game it ta
Oh brother. Ignoring the senseless rant abouve: the main criticism with the Bioshock DRM was the limited installs. It would lock you out after 3 installs on 2 computers originally, and uninstalling it didn't remove one of those counts, so people would install on 2 computers, then uninstall it to put in on another only to find that they couldn't. The SecuRom business was that it got flagged as Spyware by some anti-virus stuff and you couldn't easly remove from your registry, but I don't
I agree that it's not a stetch to not see planets orbiting (pardon the double negative). What I was saying was that using "the game's in real-time" as your justification for not having orbits is a stretch: if this game is "real-time" then how is it that you can take over numerous systems in a matter of hours? Clearly the game is NOT in real-time. I have no desire to see all those things Destraex listed in the game, not sure if I made that clear; I think phase lanes and all that are
Protoplazm - don't think about what that guy said too hard, they're clearly full of shit (sorry, just callin' it like I see it). As for discussion points (speaking about RTS in general really): I totally agree with you on how team-members should complement each other's abilities and deficiences. While it is frustrating to join a 2v2 RTS with a random on your team and find yourself playing against what soon transpires to be a pair that regular team-play together, that is pretty mu
Pretty sure Bioshock didn't flop. Also, they were intended to be release on PC and XBox at the same time but were something like 3 weeks apart due to a retailer mistake. And by all accounts the PC version was better graphics, better controls and less buggy.
I think that saying the game is representative of real-time to the extent that you wouldn't see planets orbiting is a bit a of a stretch. Sure, it's not turn based, but it's hardly 'real-time' either. The same could be said for most other RTS too. Slingshotting doesn't require them to move at faster than light speeds, but the ships would have to go much faster than they do right now for it to be a factor. Also, for that be included you would need to get rid of phase lanes too because
Is 1.05 so bad that you can't enjoy the game as is till 1.1? No wonder some developers simply keep their fans in the dark about whether there's another patch or not. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.
laviking - You might want to try poking around on this site - [link="http://www.gamerswithjobs.com/"]Gamers With Jobs[/link] - as I'm pretty sure they have a decent contingent of Sins players that play together online.
So how exactly would you explain Dawn of War (with 9 races) to them then? Did they have Starcraft explained to them in the first place because surely that was new ground for them? Or have they only lost that capability since playing Starcraft? Isn't playing each race and finding out what they are like part of the fun?
Hmm, it won't necessarily be back in 1.1: Psugar (Ironclad) said it would be back in 1.1, but then retracted that with this statement - "My apologies, I had thought this was a mistake, but apparently it was removed because it was exploitable in multiplayer. Jamie's answer was the correct one, sorry." I doesn't count out the possibility of it coming back in 1.1, but it definitely doesn't confirm it either.
Hmm, well, that does sound like a refreshing change, though there's still the issue of time. It's not that I don't have that much time, it's more that it's really frustrating when the door bell goes, the phone rings or someone wants to ask you something, and you have either ignore it, or quickly get it and explain that you're busy. Worse, you have to get into some awkward discussion with a non-gamer about how you're playing a game that you can't pause and that you also don't want to stop either,
It just sounds like you're annoyed that it's hard. I mean, it is labelled HARD ai after all. Normal AI is pretty easy, it's just time consuming to mop everything up, you're just used to it rolling over, you just need to up your game. Are you committing all your fleet in one go? Also why did you ignore the AI taking your planet? Lastly, did you just quit without a fight after it took only one of your planets?
Z-axis control has been removed. https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/312987 "Z-Axis control was removed for gameplay reasons a few patches ago. I'm sorry for the inconvienence." - Ironclad Tech Support re 1.05 patch.
This might sound obvious but try fighting less hard AIs than 8 or 10 (as indicated in your point about rank change). It'll probably by easier. Start back at 1v1 then work up again.
