No edit but even though I get theres no campaign the game did cost significantly more than some other games with good campaigns so it makes me worry what the expansion will cost........am still buying like I promised though . (because its one of the very few strat games where actual gameplay is fun - on that note be very very careful what balance changes you make , this area must be difficult because when it comes to players all of us to some degree have a vested interest in our preffered factio

Hiya Shomino, believe it or not some of the people in MP are really easy going when you are new. Sure not everyone but still so you know there are good people out there. Also what you are saying about the game being new I can respect and Ive kinda hoped the same as well, that its the case that many others like myself never or hardly go online because they are still trying to get better against the ai. Unfortunatly with many RTS games being full of zerg rushers, I guess it makes sense that many w
I think no campaign is a big part of it. (The biggest part from the newbie perspective+no promise of any campaign in the current game and how can users be sure the expansion will live up to expectations if it wasnt possible to do a campaign in this game? Whether thats fair or not thats how many think and Im saying this not as a person who hates this game but as a person who really likes how it plays.[Im not leaving anyway :) ] ) Also as far as modding goes I really think the devs need t
I think for a campaign to be succesful requires alot of work, were talking 40hrs of campaign content at least, if you want it to be something special , I would prefer 100+ hours of campaign in fact any adventure game or rpg if it doesnt have like 50 hours + I dont rate it well at all, I am quite a cynical gamer though. I actually liked morrowind 100 times better than oblivion because it has ALOT more content. Completely differant game but in regards to sins , I reckon if they could expa
I have played all the factions now , TEC at any point in the game is the most difficult to play, thats my view(Thats something considering I 90% of the time have been playing TEC, the onlt reason I stick with them is because I am expecting nerfs, I actually want to play vasari but I know once I finally get better with TEC I will adapt easier because anything but extrme rush with TEC well after this they dont hold up to well, people will say just rush but thats at least on MP not viable half the t
I like the idea of being able to point the pirates to specific planets to attack.
I like this as well but I think they should make it that you only get to choose planets to attack that you have scouted within the last 10 mins or something, it make give some diversity doing it this way. Anyway thats my contribution :)
Thanks again RB , I am just speculating here but I think I know how the ai opted not to use them. You see the game started in MP with me hosting, myself and 1 other teamed up against 2 ais, we ended up limiting them early as hell and had 2 big fleets stopping them holding all but 2 planets so they were stuck. The guy left so I had an ai with lots of cols on my team+myself. The guy I played with was quite an aggressive player so maybe with us semi rushing the game we stopped them getting to the s
Yeah limiting victory conditions Im not for either because everyone online will use them rather than just saving the game and cordinating the game and players well enough that they or someone in their place will come back in a second sitting. I wouldnt be moaning if a campaign did get added though :) , either way the game as it currently stands heck Im still trying to find a good way to use stars in my game and get conquering far away galaxys fast so Ive still loads to try in game.
Hey np yw, I havent really started using stardock software until recently as well. If you goto tools then settings then change the dropdown box from my games to sins , I think thats where you put the serial number in, click a button then it activates then all you have to do is create an ICO account from within the game and you are good to go :) Im glad you have it all sorted out, either way if you have any hassle SD are good at sorting stuff out. I actually bought gciv 2 a while ago and
Ok just checked that site, thats where I got it , if you dont hav eyour cd key mailed to you; then got stardockcentral software that should be on your PC, next click the tools menu at the top, then when the drop down menu shows click lookup serial number. After you have done this the mail address you registered should pop up then click submit. That should instantly send you a mail with all your keys for any stardock games you have. If there isnt a mail in the popup box im not sure if you can jus
Echo that seems like a really good observation :) nice! Im going to try hard ai just to make sure I dont get the same thing. I probably will though but its better to know I guess!
are there 174 version drivers for xp? If someone can link xp equiv ones It would be greatly appreciated? In saying that I have 3 licenses for vista unused , I dunno I have been thinking of upgrading since alot of display driver fixes have been made for vista and some of the bugs on xp havent been fixed. Is sins okay on vista for most? Thanks!
That artic or volcanic research is vital dependant on the map you are on and they require a certain amount of civics, See civilian section in the research window. Send your scouts out and if the closest planet is volcanic then research volcanic first else research the others dependant on what planets are close to you to be captured. Just thinking to salvage your current game , if you have maxed logistics and they are full of military and need research on artic then maybe you can demolis
Maybe someone will correct me here if Im wrong but with your current situation you need to try and take another planet and build actual civic research stations in those slots (not military). I think if its TEC you want to leave slots initially for a couple of civic research at least and 1 or 2 militarys, that is if you start again I kinda did the opposite of you last game, built all civic research stations, didnt leave enough for military research stations and got owned but anyway in yo
Just to say no edit but sometimes spamming a certain unit type has a place, it just depends on the situation and with absolute hundreds of situations in this game we need flexibility not restrictions.
A lot of people complaining about other players, usually do so because they lose to them.
Totally agree which is why its so hard to judge what changes are needed.
I think its fine the way it is. The current way means newbies like myself can pick up the game and start trying stategies and concenrate on cordinated battles and counter attacks as opposed to button pressing. Also the current system encourages attacking and not turtling and the cap ships have abilities and the game has heaps of other things that takes a while to master while not prescribing to the idea of micromanagement hell. The current way also seems dam balanced to me compared with other ga
Redmaw good post , I actually always went the shield route but I never thought of it the way you say, Im going to re-prioritize certain things next game now.
Its cool folks, really appreciate that most on here realise being civil is best for all but yeah RB I hear you :) and with what you have said in mind well I will just comment regarding some of the followup advice. I think its really useful to newbies, you see because of this thread I got the long range jumps and when I zoomed out I could see LOADS of systems. The thing is I knew stars did have some practical use but there was much I didnt know, for example antimatter regen and strategic uses. <b
Actually never thought of that one :) , yeah in say 1 system it degrades further from your capital city yes? Im curious about the allegiance as well now.
In all fairness to the devs Ive bashed my brain with sli and non sli configurations and the latest nvidia drivers are really sub par. Some will say they arent but Im in the priveleged position where I have a multitude of games. I collect them, majorly. I also dont know what nvidia is playing at because the most up to date driver has been on the site for months now and it is utter crap. I have had to go like 3 or 4 drivers down from the current one to get all around stability that includ
I would be intrested if you find a way to get it optimised for multiple cores as well.
I seriously think you should keep the science Vs creationism stuff out. Im actually a christian and I have tried to have a civil debate in the past but BOTH sides end up just as closed minded so its kinda pointless.(Havent done this on this forum though, told myself I was staying out of that) All threads like that head to one place........the gutter. I went into offtopic when I first came here but Im just staying out of it, I find the sins games forums to be the most sensible discussions and peo
sorry about the double post but it may be worth you trying the nvidia NGO drivers because thats what it took to get my system running flawlessly in sli(I uninstalled them and sli probs came back but havent got around to reinstalling them so I am just using the latest nvidia driver in non sli mode) , all the other unofficial drivers were just as bad but then again its kinda system dependant, differant things are working for differant people. Im a bit dissapointed with nvidia driver suppo
SLI has a shed load of problems , I have the 2* SLI setup and seldom use it because of problems with the nvidia drivers in SLI mode. If its realtek HD audio, well I have that and some of their drivers can cause blue screens and freezes, I had that with eve online until I changed the audio driver. In saying that I have no problems thus far running sins but my audio loops twice on the initial loadscreen then everything plays fine, I have a relativly new system as well and frankly am finding that a
Hi , I think I may have accidently double posted, sorry about that! I think I may have hit submit twice eek! Thanks for the replies though!
