Got no help, but if anyone else looking at this post, figured it out. Must edit the xyz.galaxy map with notepad or other text editor and change the version from 0 to 1. It is the first line. Works then. Hope this might help others that might read.
I have even tried this path: C:\Documents and Settings\your username\Local Settings\Application Data\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\Galaxy. No luck.
I downloaded a map consisting of one xyz.galaxy file and put it in C:\Program Files\Stardock Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\Galaxy. But it doesn't appear in custom maps to play when I start the game. What am I doing incorrectly or what more do I need to do? Thanks for any help.
