yeah I agree with jetheren that is the stratgy I use but in my oppinon keep a smallish (at least one cap ship with supporting ships) with deffesive structures (repair platforms work best in my oppinon) in orbit at the general direction of the spacelane that the pirates use. than cushion your ships with multiple repair platforms that are blanketing eachother

I havent gotten the game but am getting soon and I have been wondering if the gurreila strategy is a useable one in this game because in just about every other RTS I own it isnt and I was wondering that since this game has a slower overall pace that it would be viable strategy?
