Even if its not one machine per person it will still cost almost the same because that one machine for many will cost alot more than the machine at your house. I dont think games that require your own hardware wont die anyway... I'm sure alot of people are like me love to stare at their glowing super pc next to them....Everyone could buy a compact car but suv's are still the most poplular...How else can we prove who's king of the geeks.

even if it isnt to replace a netbook....Its not like tablets with touchscreens werent available and at a lower price any way... With cloud computing there would be LESS incentive since there wouldnt be a work around for people with hard copies. Yes but steam doesnt currently have to have server space to run all these games..The cloud services would and will ax the older games after a period of time to save money. I dont care if I"m the last person in the world that plays a game I still want to be able to play it. Hell I'm looking at my jewel case of Lords of Magic Special edition on my desk right now.(1998) . One big danger that noone has mentioned is if you by a cloud based agame and then the provider comes out with a sequel and terminates the first game... I don't want the amount of time I can own a game to depend on a service that will terminate it whenever it wants to make you buy something different...Imagine buying command and conquer 3 and then having it wiped so that you would have to play CnC4....Cloud computing is BAAAAAAAD!!!

The other problem for price is that you have to buy all those apps seperate...If you get all of those you could put your cost well over a grand. And to each their own is true but its the cost thats the problem. If someone wants to pay more just to have the new thing even though it has less functionality than what they have then that is fine by me but it doesn't make them a smart consumer.

If your worried about data loss and still want some extra speed go for 4 250 mb drives set up in raid 10. Make sure your motherboard supports it first though. .. you get data backup and double the read speed this way...Writing to the drive will be regular speed.
