There is no point, in having a tier one assult ship, and a tier 3. As you will rush the tier 1 without taking the time out to build up to tier 3 or you will tech up to tier 3 and skip tier 1 or even replace the old tier 1 warships.
I think most people disagree with this assumption you have. Using the Vasari for example my tier 1 will have missiles that hit multiple targets, my tier 3 will have fighters to shoot down enemy bombers or attack enemy tier 1 ships which are de

The Overseer doesn't really heal it gives a ship temporary hull. So if your cap is at 1000/3000 a couple overseers would boost your hull to like 2000/3000, they can do this over and over. The enemy kills temporary points, until the enemy is dead, then your cap drops back down to 1000/3000. Yes actual healing sounds a lot better, but repair ships are slow, while 10 overseers can make a cap unkillable temporarily.

I will pick any of the caps first depending on mood, it's a great thing about Vasari, there's no 'obvious' cap you need to pick, all of them are good. The Kortul kicks ass out of the box. It can solo the nearest asteroid. It can solo the next neutral planet with 4 frigates. It can move on to the next neutral planet with 8 frigates. None of your own frigates lost, money saved. At all phases of the game I will take a Kortul up against any other cap 1v1. The Desolator... I th

Sort of hijacking the thread but, if you have 3 planets then a gas giant(not colonizable) then 3 planets, how big is your chain? If it's 6-7 then trade ports sound nice, if not then a decent number of refineries would be a good idea right? Also if there are 3 neutral planets separating my TP from an ally TP how does that work?

I've played this map and it is REALLY slow in the beginning. It is very expensive but if you pay to designate your planet as your home world it fixes the negative credit problem. Upgrading population is cheaper but it takes longer and you'll still be at -0.5 creds a second I think. Someone may have a better suggestion but I know upgrading to home world works. By the way, I've beat this on hard, you can do it if you don't give up.

Ok I fleet my ships so they gather around my flagship, but for combat I tend to hotkey groups and issue attack orders that way. Some people on here have said you could just order the flagship to attack and the fleet would perform its appropriate duties based on that. So I decided to try it out against the computer and pay attention to how it worked(as per one person's suggestion I put my fleet on hold position so they don't fly off all over the place). Beginning of game I sent

Ok later game, especially if using RA my fleet + strike craft can cover the entire empire tree and then some. Which means I have to scroll up and down the tree to see planets and enemy ships. In a big fight I will scroll down to see the enemies then a ship will arrive and the empire tree jumps back up to see my fleet, then I scroll down to see the enemy ships and a strike craft will be produced shooting my empire tree back up to my fleet. Sometimes I have to constantly scroll down to try and
forming a bunch of mini-fleets is a good idea. For example, if you have and Akkan, then get the targeting computer ability. then you can make a fleet consisting of 15-20 LRMs with 15% increased range. (useful for defence platforms) then have a Kol with a bunch of your pure fighting vessels to support your other fleet. This is good because you can have the LRMs focus on caps or light frigs while your Kol-fleet takes out the support frigs and distracts the rest of the fleet.
<br

So I find the empire tree extremely useful, click on planets, my fleet, enemy ships, etc. In fact during combat I select the enemy ships I want to attack by right clicking on the empire tree icon instead of the actual ship in the main area. Unfortunately when fleet sizes get too big my empire tree starts moving all over the place. If I have ships coming from planet A to battle in planet B, everytime a ship arrives my empire tree moves. In other words I can't look at the
